PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Eisenbahnwagen-Rad.Railway carriage wheel.
, ■The present invention relates to an innovation in the manufacture of wheels for railway and mainly for tram cars, where the flange, the running ring and the Wheel body of the wheel from different stresses respectively. Wear and tear on these parts of the wheel there is an unequal resistance to metals, which has the advantages of the chilled cast iron combined with those of the wheel made of steel and cast iron. , ■
The wheels, for example for tram cars, were designed to reduce wear and tear to oppose greater resistance, previously made of hard cast iron. This wheel has however, for the streetcars operated with electricity, especially as a result of the by the engine significantly increased load of the car, proved not to be useful because In addition to this and the higher speed required at the same time for this bike was not able to cope with the violent jolts resulting from this and easily burst. To this brittleness respectively. To eliminate cracking of the wheel, the wheel rim became and wheel flange made of steel and the rest of the wheel body either made of cast iron or wrought iron manufactured. The flange of a wheel manufactured in this way, however, wore out more quickly like the tread, so does the wheel for this reason and for greater operational safety had to be put to use in a comparatively short time. Besides Wheels were made whose body and flange were made of cast iron and the were only provided with a steel tread. These bikes also have the one above mentioned disadvantage of the rapid wear of the wheel flange, although this material is proves suitable for the wheel center. From this it follows that if one is for the wheel flange suitable material is used to manufacture a wheel, this material is not either at the same time suitable for the tread, as this was quickly flattened or. Subject to fractures is. Conversely, a material that is suitable for the tread, as shown above, is not suitable for the flange, as this, made of such material will wear out quickly. Also the one for the tread so far used crucible gufs - respectively. Welding steel is not particularly suitable for the tread of the wheel, because it flattens out as a result of the frequent tightening of the brake shoes and the resultant grinding of the wheel on the rails, especially when the same sanded because of the better attack of the wheels is not avoided. the The above-mentioned method of manufacturing the wheels for tramway cars does not differ from those of wheels for railroad cars.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore to remedy the above-described inconveniences to eliminate and manufacture a wheel that meets all the requirements placed on the same is equivalent to.
Auf beiliegender Zeichnung ist:The attached drawing shows:
Ι a partial section through a wheel suitable for streetcar and
Fig. 2 is such a modified form of the wheel, which at the same time for railway wheels suitable is.
The running rim α used for the wheel of the present invention consists of specially tempered or rolled steel, which offers great resistance to flattening. this flattening is prevented by its nature. This tread, which is either of the same cross-sectional thickness, as Fig. Ι shows, or a little closer to the flange side, as Fig. 2 illustrates, is heated to a temperature suitable for welding and brought into a shape in which a wheel body b and flange c forming metal is introduced. The metal which is introduced into the mold and forms the wheel body connects in a known manner with the running ring α in such a way that it rests immovably on the wheel body. At the same time, in which the connection of the wheel body b with the tread forming the wheel bandage α goes before, the wheel flange c, which consists of the same material as the wheel body, is at the point marked by strong lines in the drawing, ie on the after the rail to the lying side hardened respectively by cooling. converted into hard cast iron.
As a result of the specially tempered steel used, the running ring will flatten avoided. Likewise, the wheel flange will wear out quickly as a result of the conversion the same prevented at its subject to wear and tear in hard cast iron and manufactured a wheel, which according to the various stresses, his Parts is formed from metals, which these stresses the necessary Oppose both wear and tear resistance. The period of use, as well as the operational safety when using wheels manufactured in this way is accordingly significantly increased and all the abuses mentioned at the beginning of those previously used Avoided wheels.
