Bohrungsflächen des Käfigs an den -Borden oder anderen Flächen neben den Rollbahnen eine genügende Dichtwirkung des Käfigs zu erreichen, muß de_r Werkstoff eine gewisse Elastizität oder Zusammendrückbarkeit besitzen. Als Werkstoff wllrd:. um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, Filz vorgesehen. Der -Erfindungsgedanke beruht darauf, einen elastischen, ölaufsaugenden Werkstoff zu verwenden und die Käfige so zu gestalten, daß sie- bei Umschließung der Wälzkörper gleichzeitig reit ihren Bohrungs- und Mantelflächen ohne Spiel, gegebenenfalls unter gewisser Spannung all den Schulterflächen der inneren und äußeren Rollbahnringe anliegen. Es sind wohl Werkstoffe für Wälzlagerkäfige bekannt, die in der Lage sind, 01 aufzusaugen; wie z. B. Käfige aus Sintermetallen, Kunstharz, Schichtholz oder Papier.
