Polygonal lid for a two-sided box

The present innovation concerns a polygonal lid made of cardboard for a two-edge box with a lid projection that protrudes beyond the two-layer lid neck and is curved outwards.

Double-edged boxes with corresponding lids of the generic type are already known.

In the previously known two-sided boxes, which are mainly used for packaging high-quality chocolates, the lid consists of three parts.

These parts are, on the one hand, the lid neck, which in this case already has a fine closed surface, the lid projection and a lid insert, which, consisting mainly of corrugated cardboard, is inserted into the lid projection and causes it to curve. The lid projection with the lid insert is glued onto the prefabricated lid neck.

It goes without saying that such a three-part construction is not only very material-intensive and therefore relatively expensive, but also requires a large number of work and gluing processes to manufacture such a cover*

The aim of this innovation is to create a lid of the generic type that is characterized by both low material requirements and easy manufacturing.

This task is solved according to the innovation in that the lid is made entirely from a one-piece cut and the inner material layers of the lid are higher than the outer material layers, so that the lid projection is held protruding upwards beyond the outer material layers along pre-grooved weakening lines in the area protruding from the lid neck.

Such a lid can be manufactured using a minimum of materials and its appearance is practically indistinguishable from a conventionally manufactured lid of this type.

The fact that the lid is made from a single piece also means that it is easy to manufacture, as only a few folding and gluing steps are required to put up such a lid.

The two-edge box shown in Fig. 1 and provided with the reference number 10 as a whole is provided with a lid 11 which has a lid neck 12 and a lid projection 13, the lid projection 13 being bent in a known manner on the one hand relative to the lid neck 12.

The lid 11 is made entirely from a one-piece blank 14, which is shown in Fig. 3 in a flat position.

The walls of the lid neck 12 are each made of two layers and consist of an inner and an outer material layer 15 and 16 of the blank 14 made entirely of cardboard.

Fig. 2 shows very clearly that the inner material layer 15 of the lid neck is higher than the

outer material layer 16, so that after setting up the

grooved weakening lines 17 in the area in which the lid projection 13 protrudes laterally in relation to the lid neck 12 in a known manner.

The different heights of the inner and outer material layers 15 and 16 of the lid neck 12 determine the amount by which the lid projection 13 protrudes upwards relative to the outer material layers 16 of the lid neck 12.

As can be seen from Figures 2 and 3, two opposing inner material layers 15 of the lid neck 12 are provided with adhesive tabs 18 angled into the plane of the lid projection 13, which are glued to the lid projection 13 to increase the stability of the entire lid 11.

Claims (3)

1. A polygonal lid made of cardboard for a two-edge box with a lid gusset that protrudes from the two-layered lid neck and is curved outwards, characterized in that the lid (11) is made entirely from a one-piece blank (14) and the inner material layers (15) of the lid neck (12) are higher than the outer material layers (16), so that the lid projection (13) is held protruding upwards beyond the outer material layers (16) along pre-grooved weakening lines (17) in the area that protrudes from the lid neck (12). 2. Lid according to claim 1, characterized in that two opposing inner material layers (15) of the lid neck (12) are provided with adhesive tabs (18) which are angled into the plane of the lid projection (13) and glued to the lid projection (13). 3. Lid according to claim 2, characterized in that the remaining inner material layers (IS) are glued to the associated outer material layers (16).
