Well-known small showcases or display cases offered on the market are characterized by the fact that they are strongly oriented towards _the objects to be displayed, especially in terms of their depth. The reason for this is often the scale of the exhibits, for example with model cars and model railways.

Difficulties arise when accommodating objects with the same theme but different sizes in such display cases. If possible, the division of such display cases can be graded or changed at fixed intervals, for example by means of perforated strips, insertion grooves or the like.

,_ Well-known showcases are also characterized by predefined backgrounds and frame parts that are firmly connected to one another.

Display cases with variable depth for volume exhibits or three-dimensional® ⁴ exhibits up to the borderline case of a picture frame in a uniform ^_ system are not yet available on the market.

The invention is based on the object of creating a display case for small parts or a small display case with several possible variations, so that it can be individually adjusted and aligned to the conditions or dimensions of individual exhibits.

The possible variations of the showcase according to the invention essentially concern the depth of the showcase, the division of the same into individual compartments and the use of alternative backgrounds. In addition, the showcase should also offer protection against dust and access.

The invention uses the modular system and plug and screw connections so that the assembled display case can be dismantled into its components. The most important components are a base plate/intermediate pieces, a cover made of a pane of glass, for example, frame pieces, supports for plates for setting up the exhibits such as glass plates, plates of this kind and finally connecting elements.

* ^w profiling. This serves to hold the frame parts or - if a display case for volume exhibits*5 is not required, but rather a frame for flat exhibits - the intermediate pieces. Additional guidance and simultaneous clamping of the attached frame or intermediate pieces is achieved by double-conical connecting elements located in the corners of the base plate, whereby a cone of these connecting elements corresponds in cross-section to the milled groove. Frame or intermediate pieces are characterized by a profiling on their undersides, which allows them to be attached to the profiles of the base plate. By attaching the frame or intermediate pieces ^ow, the backgrounds inserted into the square formed by the profiles of the base plate are held in place.

If the display case is to be divided into several compartments, the right and left intermediate pieces are provided with plate supports at the desired locations before inserting the backgrounds. To do this, these supports are attached to the front and back of the intermediate pieces with the support lips pointing inwards onto the spring on the inner edge -3-
