Containers for the storage and transport of electrical and/or optical cables

The innovation relates to a container for the storage and transport of electrical and/or optical cables with a winding core, whereby the container and the winding core consist essentially of corrugated cardboard.

Cable drums in various designs are known for storing and transporting electrical and/or optical cables. These are made of cardboard, plastic, wood, metal or a combination of different materials (DE-GM 85 28 661). It is also known to provide a cable drum serving as a winding core with a container that protects the wound cable. This drum j

is intended in particular as a disposable or throw-away drum (DE-OS 15 74 433).

In the design of the new container, the container can consist of a single rectangular piece of cardboard that has eight folds corresponding to the octagonal shape. In this way, the container casing can be transported and stored as a flat rectangular piece of cardboard in a space-saving manner before the container is assembled. Putting it together to form the finished casing only requires an adhesive connection.

The cardboard pieces that form the container shell and the winding core can be provided with trapezoidal adhesive tabs on the edges that meet the bottom of the container to enable the container shell and the winding core to be easily and reliably connected to the bottom.

The container 10 consists of a container casing 19 with a winding core 11, a base 12 and a lid 20. The base of the container 10 is formed by a regular octagonal cardboard disc, from which a regular octagon 17 is cut out in the center, into which the winding core 11 is inserted. The container casing 19 and the winding core 11 originally consist of an essentially rectangular piece of cardboard each with eight folds, which is provided with trapezoidal adhesive tabs 15 and 16 on the edges 13 and 14, respectively, with which it abuts the base 12 of the container.
