Cabinet with several doors and/or drawers

The present invention relates to a cabinet with several doors and/or drawers, wherein the drawers have a front panel on the front.

In order to be able to open and close the doors or drawers of a cabinet, handles must be provided on the doors or drawers.

Until now, handles in a variety of shapes have been attached to the doors or drawers of a cabinet to enable the doors or drawers to be opened and closed.

The handle parts that have been used up to now can have a wide variety of shapes, for example the shape of bow-like handle parts that are placed on the outside of the doors or drawers, and handle parts that are recessed into the doors or drawers in the form of recessed handles are also known.

also known as handle strips, which can be attached to the long edges of doors or drawers.

Regardless of which handle parts are used, the disadvantage is that these handle parts make cleaning the doors or front panels of the drawers more difficult, since these handle parts either protrude beyond the doors or front panels of the drawers or are recessed into these parts.

The present invention is based on the object of designing a cabinet of the generic type in such a way that practical handling of the doors and/or drawers is possible without the use of additional handles.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the horizontally extending longitudinal edges of each door and/or each front panel are bevelled in the same direction relative to the plane of the door and/or the front panel.

This design of the doors and/or the front panels of the drawers of the cabinet ensures that a handle is provided on a long edge of each door or front panel, which enables the respective door or drawer to be opened and closed without the need to install additional handles. The bevelled edges of the doors or front panels themselves form a handle, in the area of a door or a front panel of a drawer in which the bevelled long edge meets the front, vertically aligned edge.

Before handle parts are required, an additional advantage is achieved, which consists in the fact that such doors and/or front panels can be used in any side position, which is particularly desirable when a surface of a door or front panel has small cosmetic defects and is therefore not suitable as a visible side.

The cabinet shown in Fig. 1 and designated overall by reference number 10 has several doors 11 and several drawers provided with front panels 12.

As shown in Fig. 2 to 7, the doors as well as the front panels 12 are provided with bevels 13 and 14 running in the same direction on their horizontal longitudinal edges. These bevels 13 and 14 provide a handle on a longitudinal edge of a door 11 or front panel 12 for operating the respective door or the drawer equipped with a front panel 12. One of the bevels 13 or 14 forms an acute angle with the vertical front plane of the cabinet body 15, into which a user can reach with his fingers and open the respective door 11 or the respective drawer 12.

Both the doors 11 and the front panels 12 therefore do not require any additional handle parts, so that the surface of the doors 11 or front panels 12 is at least not interrupted by handle parts.

This ensures that the doors and drawers can be handled properly and that cleaning the surfaces of the doors 11 or front panels 12 is not made difficult by protruding or recessed handles.

The doors 11 and the front panels 12 can be used in two possible installation positions due to the chamfers 13 and 14 in the same direction without losing the advantages mentioned above. This means that a door 11 or a front panel 12 can also can still be used if one of its surfaces has minor damage. The damaged surface is then used as the inside facing the cabinet body 15.

As Fig. 2 and 3 clearly show, two doors 11 of a tall cupboard can be firmly connected to each other, for example by a connecting strip 16.

The connecting strip 16 can, as shown in Fig. 2, be bevelled on its outer longitudinal edges corresponding to the bevels 13 of the doors 11; it is also possible to select a flat connecting strip 16, as shown in Fig. 3, and then to mount this flush with the backs of the doors 11.

Fig. 5 makes it clear that, for example, the front panels 12 of the drawers, as well as the doors 11, can abut against a panel 17 attached to the body side in the adjacent area. This panel attached to the body side can also consist of a connecting strip 16 placed on the furniture body 15, as shown in Fig. 7. This offers the advantage that in a cabinet in which, for example, two doors 11 are connected to one another with such a connecting strip, the same appearance is also maintained in the area in which adjacent doors 11 and drawers with front panels 12 are arranged.

Fig. 6 makes it clear that decorative panels 16a can also be attached to the front panels 12 and to the doors 11, the overall cross-section of which corresponds to the cross-section of the connecting strips 16. Thus, the overall visual impression of the visible side of a cabinet 10 can be retained even if two doors 11 are firmly connected to one another via connecting strips 16 and adjacent to these doors there are doors It and drawers 12 or further doors 11 that can be operated independently of one another.

Through practical tests it was determined that the bevels 13 and 14 relative to the surfaces of the doors 11 or the front panels 12 should be in a range between 25° and 50°, since even smaller angles would on the one hand lead to relatively sharp edges of the doors 11 or the front panels 12 and on the other hand even larger angles would

the desired grip option could no longer be fulfilled to a satisfactory degree.

Fig. 8 makes it clear that the bevels 13 and 14 of the doors 11 and the front panels 12 on the two horizontally running longitudinal edges can also have different inclinations. This opens up additional design possibilities.
