Sowohl bei elektrisch als auch bei mechanisch arbeitenden Anordnungen zum Sortieren gelochter Karten, beispielsweise für statistische Zwecke, benutzt man Abtastvorrichtungen, die sich durch seitliche Verschiebung auf die einzelnen Spalten der Zählkarten oder Lochkarten einstellen lassen, um eine Sortierung nach den Angaben in jeder beliebigen Kartenspalte in aufsteigend numerischer Reihenfolge zu ermöglichen. Die Sortierung geht dabei in der Weise vor ίο sich, daß jedesmal dann, wenn eine Kartenlochung unter der Abfühlbürste erscheint, ein elektrischer Stromkreis geschlossen wird, über den sich ein Kartenleitorgan für die Führung der Lochkarte in ihr zugehöriges Kartensortierfach einstellt. Die Kartenleitorgane bestehen aus einer Reihe von Kartenweichen in Form eines Bündels übereinandergeschichteter elastischer Leitschienenführungsenden, zwischen denen die Leitkanäle für die sortierten Karten liegen.
