Description

The innovation concerns a starting aid for motor vehicles, consisting of a bushing/ from which a large number of gripping arms extend radially outwards.

Car tires are provided with suitable profiles to reduce slip on normal roads. Special tire profiles, especially with coarse studs, are provided to improve the grip of car tires on snow-covered roads, in sand or on slopes, but these no longer ensure sufficient grip in extreme conditions. Starting aids or driving aids are therefore required, particularly in deep snow, on soft sandy roads and on steep slopes, to prevent the wheels from spinning or the vehicle from skidding.

Snow chains are particularly well-known for winter use. They are fitted onto the tyres, but they are usually difficult to attach and cause the vehicle to shake considerably when driving. generate, especially when driving on roads with a firm layer of snow; different tire sizes require different sized chains.

The aim of this innovation is to create a starting aid for motor vehicles that can be easily attached to the tire and that can be adjusted in such a way that it can be used for a variety of tire sizes.

It is particularly advantageous if wedge-shaped blocks are inserted into the U-shaped profiles of the second outer part of the gripping arms, the outer edges of which are provided with a large number of teeth and which are connected to the side walls of the profiles by means of screws and nuts.

The innovative starting aid can be adjusted to any tire size in just a few steps and can be attached to the tire without having to remove it from the ground. The U-shaped outer parts of the gripping arms rest firmly on the tire profile and

g ₅ together with the jagged edges or jagged blocks ensure safe vehicle handling on snow, sand, swamp or steep slopes.

According to the embodiment shown in Figure 1, a plurality of radially extending gripping arms 1, 2, 3 are provided (the number can be greater or smaller), which engage by means of leaf springs 4 in a bushing 5 provided with an internal thread 53 by means of a holding part 41. Each gripping arm 1, 2, 3 consists of two parts, namely an inner part 11, 21, 31 and an outer part 111, 211, 311, the inner part 11 being angled by approximately 90° at its end facing the bushing 5, while the outer part of the outer part 111 is angled essentially in a U-shape in order to grip around the tire.

At the connection points of the two parts, openings 10 and 71 are provided, offset from one another in the axial direction, in order to connect the two parts 11, 111, 21, 211 or 31, 311 to one another in an adjustable manner by means of bolts 12 and nuts 13.

The outward pressure of the springs 4 prevents the bushing 5 from being accidentally released. To make it easier to screw on and fasten, the corresponding section of the parts 11, 21, 31 is slightly inclined in order to make it easier to turn and fasten the bushing 5.

The new traction aid is inexpensive to manufacture and easy to attach to the tire, e.g. if it is held in place by a pothole.
