Description

Gibt man z. Process for the production of reflection-changing surface layers on glass, transparent plastics or the like. It is known by vapor deposition of one or more thin layers of calcium fluoride, d or other fluorides the reflective properties of transparent materials such as glass, plastics and the like a. to change. Since the thickness of the layers is known to be determined according to Interference = conditions to be dimensioned often occur in the manufacture the layers required evaporation process, which is to be carried out in a vacuum, insofar Difficulties arise when the material to be vaporized during the vapor deposition process as a result of gas formation tattered. However, this results in a uniform and undisturbed formation of the layers not always guaranteed. So z. B. gaseous silicon tetrafluoride arise, that occurs during the thermal decomposition of silicofluoric acid salts (calcite silicofluoride), contained as an impurity in the evaporation materials. The gases produced emerge from the melt flow of the evaporation furnace and burn, so that the vaporized material will crack. The same cause are also due to fluctuations in the vacuum, which are also noticeable in a disturbing manner do. These disadvantages are addressed by the present] invention avoided by adding an additive measured according to its degree of acidification to the vaporized material one or more oxides of the alkaline earths, also z. B. calcium oxide, magnesium oxide etc., is added. Are you z. B. the calcium fluoride depending on its degree of acidification z. B. 1% calcium oxide is added, the resulting silicon tetrafluoride in the melt flow intercepted as soon as it is formed and thus the material being vaporized will crack or fluctuations in the vacuum are avoided. When using the method according to the invention the above-mentioned difficulties can thus be excluded in a simple manner and always produce uniformly good layers while avoiding rejects.
