Verfahren zur Herstellung a, ,'-ungesättigter, y,-chlorsubstituierter
Bd. 33, S. 466, Jg. 19o5). DieAusbeute beidiesem Verfahren ist aber nicht befriedigend
(Academie Royal de Belgique, Bulletin Classe Science, Bd. 27, S. 212, Jg. 194i),
Process for the preparation of a,, '- unsaturated, y, -chloro-substituted
Carboxylic acid nitriles It is known from patent specification 657 377, from the nitriles
of a-oxycarboxylic acids to produce the a, ß-un @ saturated nitriles by the
Oxy group esterified with a volatile acid and from the esters thus obtained
splits off the acid. Also the elimination of water from γ-chlorine-substituted ß-oxynitriles
using phosphorus pentoxide has already been described (Bulletin Societe Chimique France3,
Vol. 33, p. 466, vol. 19o5). However, the yield from this process is not satisfactory
(Academie Royal de Belgique, Bulletin Classe Science, vol. 27, p. 212, vol. 194i),
and working with phosphorus pentoxide is costly, so this process is used for
a general technical application is out of the question.
y-chlorsubstituierten a,ß-ungesättigten Nitrile erhält.
It has now been found that the thermal cleavage of the y-chloro-ß-oxynitrile,
whose oxy group is esterified with a volatile organic acid, the corresponding
Y-chlorine-substituted a, ß-unsaturated nitriles is obtained. It's surprising that
in the thermal treatment, the splitting off of the carboxylic acid proceeds smoothly without
that in the process the very mobile y-chlorine atom is split off.
Die y-Chlor-ß-oxynitrile sind leicht zugänglich. So erhält man beispielsweise
(s. u. a. Rambaud, Bulletin de la Societe Chimique de France 5, Bd. 3, S. 138, Jg.
1936).The y-chloro-ß-oxynitriles are easily accessible. So you get for example
from epichlorohydrin and hydrogen cyanide in excellent yield ß-oxyy-chlorobutyronitrile
The most common volatile acids for the present process are
Line organic mono- or polybasic acids into consideration, for example acetic acid,
Benzoic acid, phthalic acid or inorganic acids such as sulfurous acid or
Carbonic acid.

The amount of this fraction is on average about 2 / ½ of the amount of starting material used in the unit of time. The residue from this distillation, about 1'73 of the amount used, consists largely of unchanged β-acetoxy-γ-chlorobutyronitrile, which can be subjected to cleavage again. The mixture of acetic acid and γ-chlorocrotononitrile is then fractionally distilled. This gives a first run consisting of glacial acetic acid and two fractions of the γ-chlorocrotonic acid nitrile, namely i. low-boiling y-chlorocrotononitrile from KPt2 = 57 to 57.5-; n; = i, -1750; d- "= 1.121; 2nd high-boiling y-chlorocrotononitrile of Kpt2 = 73 to 73.3 °; nf. = 1.4818; d, '= 1.128.
