Verfahren zur Verarbeitung von Polyisobutylen und seinen Mischungen
I'olyisol)tttylen findet in der Technik vielfältige Anwendung. Infolge seiner geringen
Wasserdurchlässigkeit ist es beispielsweise ein brauchbarer Austauschstoff für Blei
bei Kabelmänteln, wozu man es entweder in Form von Bändern nach dem Wickelverfahren
oder dem Lätigsbedeckungsverfahren auf die Kabelseele aufbringt oder mit Hilfe der
Strang-oder Schneckenpresse im Spritzverfahren unmittelbar in nahtloser Schicht
aufpreßt. In der Regel verwendet man das Polvisobutylen in Mischungen, die man auf
der Walze oder iin Kneter herstellt. Mischungen aus Polyisobutylen mit Ruß und Graphit
oder mit Ruß allein lassen sich besser verarbeiten als das reine Polyisobutylen
und haben außerdem den Vorteil einer äußerst geringen Wasserdurchlässigkeit, wodurch
sie beispielsweise für Kabelmäntel besonders geeignet sind. _11s verarbeitungstechnisch
am günstigsten haben sich Mischungen mit weniger als 5o % Polyisobutvlen erwiesen.

chemisch auf das Polyisobuty lenmolekül einwirkende Zusätze verstärkt. Durch diese
Zusätze erhält man
ein höher und gleichmäßiger abgebautes Polyisobutylen
und damit besser verarbeitliare Mischurigen. Gleichzeitig werden Zeit und Energie
für die Herstellung der Mischung gespart. Als Abbaumittel für Polyisobutylen eignen
sich z. B. Mercaptoverbindungen, wie Trichlorthiophenol und andere aliphatisc'he

Versandballen geschnitten in o,50ioiger Lösung in Tetrachlorkohlen:toft eine dynamische
Viskosität von 15,92 centi-Stokes. Nach 4oMinuten Walzdauer bei 75#- betrug die
Viskosität (unter gleichen Umständen gemessen) i i. i centi-Stokes. Bei sonst völlig
gleicher Walzbehandlung, aber Zugabe von 3 % Trichlorthiophenol nach den ersten
15 Minuten des Walzen: war jedoch die Viskosität auf 7.8 centi-Stokes gesunken.
Die Verarbeitbarkeit der Mischung ist somit durch den Zusatz des chemisch wirkenden
