Zur Erzeugung von Abdrücken von Unterkiefern, wie sie zur Herstellung von Gebißprothesen erforderlich sind, benutzt man sogenannte Abdrucklöffel. Sofern der Unterkiefer beiderseits noch bezahnt ist, wird fast ausschließlich ein Abdrucklöffel benutzt, der ein Kastenprofil besitzt.
