Description
Process for processing urban waste into fertilizers and Soil improvers The invention relates to a method for processing urban waste, in particular from garbage and sewage sludge, to fertilizers and soil improvers, the mass to be processed by the action of air with simultaneous generation of heat is subjected to a fermentation and drying process.
Known methods of this type are generally assumed to be one A mixture consisting predominantly of household waste, which is sorted out prior to processing the metallic additions, shards, bottles, rags, slag, etc. from everyone coarser components is freed, so that only a fine-grained mass for processing comes. Such fine-grained masses allow the surrounding air to a certain extent Unrestricted access only within a limited, not far below the surface reaching layer. This makes it indispensable for the preparation of usable humus aerobic decomposition is limited to this layer.
In order to also properly prepare the deeper layers, one was forced to use the previously known methods, fresh air to be artificially introduced into the interior of the layered material to be processed, and through the use of pressure or suction systems or at least several times over Moving or plowing the layers. This the proper processing in undesirable Wise retarding,. complicating and increasing costs were all the more with those previous procedures necessary, in the implementation of which one although also coarser waste components left in the iNlasse to be processed, whereby but before the fermentation process was started, the garbage was mixed with wet sewage sludge. The admixture of wet sewage sludge is mentioned in various prior publications Expressly recommended on the grounds that the sewage sludge stimulates the fermentation of the garbage put with him. In fact, the opposite is true: Garbage mixed with sewage sludge forms a compact, highly moisture-laden, mass that tends to gelatinize and crust, which allows air to pass through Opposed greatest resistance and therefore to carry out the intended aerobic fermentation is as unsuitable as possible.
According to the invention, on the other hand, it is flawless, without artificial Aeration enables functioning, deep fermentation of the layered material, by placing the raw waste to be processed on the ripening field without prior sorting out of hollow bodies or bodies containing hollow spaces, such as bottles, cans, rags etc., stacked in a manner known per se in such a way that the layer of a large number of cavities is interspersed or that with the free atmosphere in Connected air ducts z. B. by means of an auger or the like. Subsequently be applied after the piling up of the masses to be processed and that then the fermentation process initiated by the admission of fresh air after reaching a certain, on average preferably between 40 and 60 ° lying fermentation temperature by complete or partial closure of the mouths leading into the open of the one to be processed Mass penetrating cavities is throttled.
Such a control of the fermentation process is achieved by this measure achieves that fermentation takes place simultaneously in all layers of the garbage heap and that the temperatures occurring do not exceed a certain level.
When carrying out the method, the raw waste cavity-forming bodies, such as cans or the like Measure to be added.
The throttling can be effected, for example, that one the hollow openings of the pre-fermented raw waste layer more or less strongly covers fine-grained waste materials that are difficult to ventilate.
When sewage sludge is also processed together with raw waste should, this is according to the invention not from the beginning, but only after Completion of the first process stage, i.e. after the raw waste has been pre-fermented, added, preferably in the form of one of the cavities of the pre-fermented raw waste layer fully or partially final top layer.
Sinks as a result of too much covering of the raw waste layer that once reached Temperature inside the layer drops too much, so that fermentation is interrupted is to be feared, one can do this by partial interruption of the applied Slightly counteract coverage.
Two methods have already become known when they are carried out a sorting out of bottles or cans contained in the garbage likewise only after The fermentation process is carried out. According to one of the two methods, by leaving these items in the fermenting garbage through a sterilization the heat that develops during the fermentation process can be achieved. The inventor of the However, the process did not recognize that by adding cans, bottles or similar bodies to the raw waste an automatic ventilation is enabled, and he even has an explicit artificial ventilation with the help of pressure and Requires suction systems. His method could therefore be part of the invention educational doctrine, which consists in the fact that one is formed by such admixtures Cavities used for automatic ventilation, not removed. With the other of the two procedures are those formed by the coarse - \ lüllbeimenguligeli Cavities used for automatic ventilation of the raw waste, but there is no according to the present invention to be carried out regulation of the fermentation temperature Covering the layers in fermentation, and therefore it will occur in the course of the Fermentation "at temperatures that are detrimental to the formation of valuable humus and lead to the incineration of valuable components of the waste to be treated.
After the ripening process has been completed, the mature mass can become a Final processing can be supplied by selecting or mechanical crushing coarse waste components that do not disintegrate by themselves during the fermentation process, optionally with the addition of enrichment substances.
In the inventor's company, the method is carried out as follows: Urban fresh waste is loosely piled up as it arrives, without first sorting out cans, bottles, rags or the like, up to 1.5 m high. As far as organic masses, e.g. B. Vegetable waste, unmixed in large quantities with cavity-forming admixtures, the parties concerned are also finitely canned cans o. The garbage heap thus layered is left without any further treatment until the temperature inside the layer has reached an average of 50 ". The surface of the garbage heap is then covered by spraying a layer of sewage sludge about 4 to 8 cln thick is very wet, the temperature drops temporarily, but after evaporation of the infiltrated water it soon rises again to about 40 to 50, of course a little more slowly in cold and rainy weather than in warm and dry weather For longer periods below 40c, fermentation can be intensified again by pounding holes in the sludge layer. The temperatures reached, however, should never exceed about 60 ° and can be lowered again at any time by closing the holes this procedure perfectly even, and the most valuable n components are retained in full.
An analysis carried out by a neutral agency showed that (read final product besides other constituents, contains on average ii.4% humus. llumus is well known not only a decomposition stage, but at the same time also a build-up stage more organic Floor fabrics. His education was able to use (gen up to now known garbage processing methods not yet be observed. The inventive method is therefore a A way has been shown, the first not only to reuse the waste contained in the garbage valuable raw materials are allowed, but also allowed to create something, that is more than just fertilizer.
