The innovation concerns a mattress with a foam mattress core.

Mattress cores made of foams, in particular polyurethane foams, are state of the art today. Due to their favorable hardness ranges, such foams have advantageous ones Insulation values, low weight and good hygienic properties of other upholstery materials, especially in the bed area, largely displaced.

However, one disadvantage of such thick foam blocks is the phenomenon that when pressure is applied not only the parts below are compressed, but also at the same time the adjacent, unloaded parts of the foam block act as tensile forces. The subject of the present innovation is a mattress core made of foam, in which the disadvantages described be avoided. The present innovation accordingly consists of a foam mattress, conventional covers and, if desired, customary covers, characterized in that one or both sides of the mattress core three-, four- or polygonal bodies made of foam with edge lengths of 2 to 15 cm and a height of 5 to 10 cm and these bodies are separated from one another by incisions no more than 0.5 cm.
