Die Fig. 1 und 2 auf beiliegender Zeichnung zeigen einen mittelst einer Luftpumpe mit Luft gefüllten Windkessel i in Verbindung mit dem Fafs h, aus dem die Flüssigkeit gedrückt werden soll. Zwischen beiden ist der Apparat a, welcher in Fig. 3 in gröfserem Mafsstabe gezeichnet ist, eingeschaltet. Diese drei Gefäfse stehen durch die Röhren efg η mit den in den Fig. 4 und 5 gleichfalls in gröfserem Mafsstab gezeichneten Hähnen/und q in Verbindung. Werden die Hähne in die in Fig. 5 durch Pfeile angedeutete Lage gebracht, so wird der Austritt der Luft durch Rohr e aus dem Windkessel verhindert und es communicirt nun das Rohr / mit dem Rohr g, d. h. der im Apparat α befindliche Ueberdruck wird aufgehoben., indem die Luft aus α durch f und g nach h tritt. Das Fafs h steht mit seinem tiefsten Punkte über der Oberkante des Apparats α und die dadurch entstehende geringe Druckhöhe ist ausreichend, dafs die im Fafs h enthaltene Flüssigkeit das leicht spielende Ventil b des Apparats α hebt und in den letzteren einströmt. Die Flüssigkeit wird nach α so lange fliefsen, bis das Niveau in letzterem, event, auch in η und f, gleich ist demjenigen im Fafs A.
