Description
Process for producing consistent lubricating greases Patent addendum 367 323 The present invention follows a further development of the method U.S. Patent 767,323 and relates to a process by which the consistent fats, the amounts of fatty acids required can be greatly reduced, without the fats changing in their consistency. The process of patent 767 323 is based on the use of the trailing and leading fatty acids that occur during paraffin oxidation with a higher Kofilenstoffzahl than z9 alone or in a mixture with such a carbon number smaller than 1q. for the production of lubricating greases. It is known that the consistency of a lubricating grease depends on the soap content and increases with increasing soap content. It has now been found that the Soap content of a lubricating fat produced according to patent 767 323 using alkaline earths can be reduced to a surprising degree while the consistency remains the same, if at the Production of the fat a suitable base excess is selected. Used to create soaps as a base, for example, kallzhydrate, so @ is more than double, but less than to use three times as much hydrated lime as for neutral, i sation that for reaction coming fatty acids is required. The 1Tenge hydrated lime should that is, greater than that required for the formation of basic salts, but not more than three times the amount of base required to neutralize the fatty acids amount
It has been found tceiter that even twice the required to neutralize close hydrated lime already sufficient if even 1 additionally very small 'amounts of a strong alkali such as sodium hydroxide, added "ground.
By using the method described, the required amount of fatty acids could be reduced by about - [o%] while maintaining the same consistency of the lubricating greases produced. Example i According to patent 767 3-23, a lubricating grease is made from 117 hg of a fatty acid with a lower carbon number than 14, 112 kg of a fatty acid with a higher carbon number than 1; 8o kg of lubricant and a small amount of milk of lime that the the amount of hydrated lime which reacts is 2.8 times the amount required for neutralization; For example, 57o 1 of a milk of lime containing 18% Calciumaxvd are required for this. The fat produced in this way has a fatty acid content of only 12%. In its isonsistency it corresponds to a fat produced without excess hydrated lime and with a fatty acid content of about 20'10.
With a grease approach like example i, the double the amount of hydrated lime required to neutralize the fatty acids, for example 4071 of an 80% milk of lime is used, in addition about 0.2 i 1 an approximately 43% sodium hydroxide solution was added. - You get a fat of approximately the same Consistency as in example i.
