Description

Process for Obtaining Acetic Acid The invention relates to a Process for the production of acetic acid from beech pulp sulphite waste liquor. It was namely found that this sulphite waste liquor is a multiple of that in the waste liquor from coniferous pulp, there are also very small amounts of Esisigsärare Contains quantities of formic acid and other volatile fatty acids, namely can this sulphite waste liquor contains r / o, under favorable circumstances even more, of acetic acid. For this purpose, the beech pulp sulphite waste liquor is extracted with solvents, which are not miscible with water and have a good solvency for acetic acid.

Ebs is known to take acetic acid from its diluted with water To extract solutions with suitable solvents, thereby to clean and before to concentrate on all things, e.g. B. in the charring and acetate silk industries. In these cases, however, solutions are processed, which are mainly acetic acid contain and 'in which other substances occur only in minor quantities.

So far it was only known that pulp sulfite waste liquors contain acetic acid, in an amount of about o, ii to o.7 11 / u. However, the task of technically obtaining this acetic acid has not been tackled. In contrast, the invention is based on the knowledge that beech cellulose sulfite waste liquor, thanks to its comparatively high acetic acid content, enables acetic acid to be obtained industrially. r The process according to the invention is carried out in such a way that the Btichenzellstoffsulfitablauge in an expediently continuously operating extraction apparatus with a liquid extractant, z. B. ether, ethyl acetate or another water-immiscible solvent with a favorable partition coefficient is extracted and the acetic acid-containing solution obtained is subjected to fractional distillation. After the solvent has been separated off, the remaining concentrated acetic acid is separated from the dissolved resinous impurities by vacuum distillation, whereupon it is contaminated with small amounts of furfural and formic acid, which can be removed in a known manner. Example 50 l of beech pulp sulphite waste liquor with 15% dry matter and 15% acetic acid are extracted continuously with ethyl acetate in a liquid extraction apparatus, and the flow of liquor and ethyl acetate is adjusted so that the liquor running off is still about 0.1% The ethyl acetate which runs off is separated from the extracted substances by fractional distillation and fed back into the extraction column. When the extraction is complete, the residue of ethyl acetate remaining in the extract is separated off by fractional distillation 1275 g of a solution are left behind, which consists of 5% acetic acid; 100% water and 320 "') resinous products, mainly condensation products de: furfurols. consists. The solution is subjected to vacuum distillation, about 85o g of a 100% colorless acetic acid being obtained. which is only contaminated by small amounts of furfural and formic acid.
