Equipment parts resistant to high hydrochloric acid The number of metallic materials
that of chemical technology for the production of hydrochloric acid-resistant apparatus parts
Availability is quite limited. Silver and silver alloys are excellent
Processable, but against hydrochloric acid only up to medium concentrations and temperatures
resistant. Iron-silicon alloys are just in the compositions that
have reasonably good resistance to hydrochloric acid, can hardly be processed without cutting, so
that only a limited number of simple forms as cast pieces made from it
can be.
gegen mechanische Abnutzung.Tantalum has the same disadvantage with excellent hydrochloric acid resistance,
d. H. only simply shaped parts can be produced from it, and they can neither
can be properly soldered or welded; tantalum cannot be plated either.
Platinum is in itself an ideal material, but it is usually too expensive and
is also not always available in the necessary quantity. Gold is also
excellent processability and hydrochloric acid resistant; it is also opposite that
Platinum, if not exactly cheap, but a bit cheaper. Beside his
Costliness
it still has the broader disadvantage of being very soft; H. too low resistance
against mechanical wear.
It was found. that the main disadvantages of gold
can be considerably restricted by adding silver. It was surprising
that even alloys with high silver contents. z. B. those made of 70% gold and 30%
Silver, against boiling concentrated hydrochloric acid, even with air ingress, in a long-term test
proven to be just as stable as pure gold. Even alloys with 40% silver
(that is more than 50 atomic percent Ag) proved to be completely stable; first
when the gold content of the alloy was reduced to 30 to 40%, depending on the concentration.
The temperature and degree of ventilation of the acting acid show noticeable corrosion. These
The gold-silver alloys are surprisingly resistant to hydrochloric acid
well suited for chemical apparatus engineering. Because the addition of silver will also
causes a significant increase in the mechanical resistance of gold.
Furthermore, there is a considerable reduction in the grate. it should be noted that z.
B. 1 kg of gold in the form of a 50% Au-Ag alloy is around three times as much usable
specific material volume results as in the form of the pure aluminum. The Au-Ag alloys
are as good as one could wish, machinable and spanols malleable. solderable,
weldable etc. they could also be electroplated excellently on base materials
or mechanically plated. As a particularly favorable embodiment of plating
it was found that a solid silver or silver-plated part of the apparatus can be used
gold-plated (e.g. galvanic) and then a thermal diffusion treatment is expedient
in the salt bath, submits. By systematically controlling the thickness of the gold plating and the diffusion process
the desired alloy layers are then obtained in the desired composition
and strength with excellent adhesion to the substrate. This procedure has
also has the advantage that pores of the original edition as z. B. the galvanic
Fine gold plating easily emerges, with certainty from all sides
extending diffusion can be brought to wind.
Halogenverbindungen mitverstanden, z. B. gegen feuchtes Brom, Slonochloressigsäure
usw. If in the present description of hydrochloric acid resistance
is spoken. so among them is the resistance to other strongly attacking ones
Halogen compounds understood, e.g. B. against moist bromine, slonochloroacetic acid
etc.
