The invention relates to a method for dearsenating roasting gases
using towers through which gas flows one after the other and sulfuric acid
as is known. So far, the z. B. electrical

arrived. In this mode of operation, especially in the case of high arsenic
Gases, owing to the high degree of acidity and of those still in higher degrees
Gas temperature in the first tower and the resulting high arsenic solubility
Encrustations and silting in the additional equipment belonging to this tower,
such as pumps, coolers and pipelines. Knowing the cause of this
disturbing phenomenon in the method according to the invention is the mode of operation
of the successive washing towers changed as follows: The one running around in the second tower
Wash acid is drawn off before a concentration of about 35% H2 SO, _ is reached
and after allowing the As precipitate to settle for the first time, with the hot-dusted ones
Roasting gas fed tower given that so hot, z. B. with a gas outlet temperature
of about 200 °, driven by the fact that arsenic is absorbed by the acid and from it
resulting difficulties are avoided. In addition, the washing acid will run out
from the first tower in arsenic-free, concentrated form.
