Electrode for electrical resistance spot or seam welding The
known electrodes made of copper or silver have good electrical conductivity,
but show the disadvantage: that-: when welding highly conductive metals, such as
.Silver; Copper and light metals, such as aluminum or the like, as a result of the .geringen
Hardness of the copper or silver during the heating associated with: welding
deformation of the electrode tip easily occurs. This deformation is true
only relatively minor in individual cases, but it does work if there are many spot welds
placed one after the other, in so far as they are unfavorably noticeable as being proportionate to one
requires early reworking or replacement of the electrodes. Furthermore, it can
Especially with light metals, the electrodes stick or weld on
come on the weld metal. The invention avoids these disadvantages.
6oo', vorzugsweise 500° C, mehrere Stunden, vorzugsweise a bis 8 Stunden, nachgetempert
wird. The invention relates to an electrode for electrical resistance point
or seam welding, which is characterized by the fact that it is entirely or on the contact surface
on the weld metal made of an alloy of at least 961/0 copper and at most
q. °) o- consists of aluminum and chromium and that this alloy is initially melted,
then it is poured and rolled and: then at temperatures between .loo and
600 ', preferably 500 ° C, for several hours, preferably a to 8 hours, post-tempered
will.
Haftiiiini,
Thoriuni, Molybdän, Wolfram, Uran, Vaiiadium, Niobium, Tantal, Mangan, ferner Rhenium,
Such an alloy is characterized by a relatively cheap one
electrical conductivity due to a greater hardness and above all as a result of it
Manufacturing process characterized by a greater temperature resistance, so that the
Deformation and sticking: the electrodes are avoided during welding. the
Copper alloy advantageously contains less than z% aluminum and less than 3%
Chrome. According to the invention can also be used as an additive to the copper alloy at steep
of chrome or in addition to chrome. another hard metal, such as zinc oxide, titanium,
Haftiiiini,
Thoriuni, molybdenum, tungsten, uranium, vaiiadium, niobium, tantalum, manganese, also rhenium,
Rhodium or a hard metal alloy .1i1 in an amount of less than 30 / ".
The percentage of the alloy constituents added to your copper is determined
within the specified limits depending on the desired hardness and conductivity
the alloy. Instead of copper, you can also use silver.
The electrodes are manufactured in such a way that the metal alloy
first melted, then poured and rolled. Then the rolled
Material at temperatures between 400 and 600 ° C, preferably 500 ° C, several
Hours, previously 2 to 5 hours, post-tempered, then the electrode is
Carved out of the post-tempered material in the desired shape. But you can
also produce the electrode in the desired shape before tempering, like this
that no further processing takes place after tempering.
