Description
See-through viewers for photographic and cinematographic. Apparatus The invention relates to a see-through viewfinder for photographic and cinematographic Apparatus based on the principle of an inverted Galilean telescope.
The arrangement of such a viewfinder can cause difficulties if with the frequently requested. . large angle of view of the available space is limited, or the distance between the two viewfinder lenses, in particular in the case of cinematographic apparatus, is disproportionately large. In this case must the viewfinder will receive a correspondingly strong reduction for use is inexpedient, moreover, there are distortions that are - not - without have further eliminated. -The relationship between the size of the viewfinder and the reduction in size of the viewfinder is designed more favorably according to the invention that the eye-side Positive lens closer to. the negative lens is moved closer, namely so far that There is a distance between the viewing opening and the positive lens, which approximately equal to the focal length of the positive lens reduced by the eye offset of about i2-mm. This brings the pupil of the eye roughly into focus to lie of this lens, and the main beam path is between the two lenses for example: telecentric. The position of the eye is determined by a viewing opening. With this arrangement remains. the distortion of the system still exist. Through this, that now the distance from the exit pupil to the eye can no longer be neglected is small, the possibility arises by choosing the radius ratio of this lens the aberrations, especially the distortion of the viewfinder, to a greater extent to influence. In one embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, the disturbing distortion of the system is eliminated by the fact that the positive lens of the eye is designed so that the radius of the surface facing the eye is .absolutely smaller is than the surface of the lens facing away from the eye. The other aberrations, which can interfere with an instrument for subjective observation, in particular Asymmetry errors and astigmatism do not yet grow to disturbing values at. First of all, the structural advantages of the inventive Arrangement can be shown on the basis of an example and, secondly, the correction of the Distortion can be proven theoretically.
Let the task be set into an 8 mm cine camera by a. Build length of 85 mrn a viewfinder with the reduction 1: 2. In the way that has been used up to now, this is done in the manner shown in Fig. Z. , The arrangement of a negative lens is made at the front side of the camera with a focal length of about the camera length during the positive, eye-side lens is mounted on the rear wall of the apparatus and an approximately twice as long focal length as the n eg 2.ative, Linsebesitzt, for example, thus i7omm.
The eye can practically be brought closer to the viewing opening to 15 mm. Under these circumstances, the viewfinder image is limited by the field diaphragm formed by the mount of the negative lens: Should the viewfinder now reproduce the field of view that corresponds to an image format of the camera of 3; 3Xq., 4: mn with a focal length of 10 mm; so, according to the construction carried out in the figure, this field diaphragm must have a size of h - b = 15.3 - 2o. [mm]. The distance between the entrance pupil EP and the negative lens results from the double application of the lens formula Accordingly, the height h and width b of the field diaphragm are then Correspondingly, in Fig. 2 a viewfinder with the same reduction, but constructed in accordance with the invention, is then constructed for the same camera. Since, because of the given reduction, the positive lens must have about twice the focal length of the negative lens and, moreover, the positive lens must be in the immediate vicinity of the focal point of the negative lens in order to achieve a sharp image and fpos = -f-'333-2 = 66.7 mm.
The illustration also shows immediately that in this example the entrance pupil EP coincides with the focal point of the negative lens, and this results in the height h and the width b of the viewfinder window If one compares the sizes of the viewfinder windows according to Fig. 1 and 2; the result is that the viewfinder window according to the invention is significantly smaller. The ratio is in the calculated example The size of the viewfinder window is now decisive for the space requirements of the viewfinder device within the camera. The invention is now. in this case a space gain of 50% of the original finder space can be recorded.
If you want to use the smaller one with viewfinders of the previous design (Fig. 1) To get along with the space that is sufficient for the finder according to the invention, one must reduce the size make the system accordingly stronger. Too much reduction in the viewfinder however, it may impair the usability of the camera.
All of these considerations change only insignificantly when one, like @ es is often the case, the refractive power of the lenses is chosen so that the viewer Image does not appear at infinity, but at a finite distance.
The relationship between the distortion of the device and the curvature the positive lens is said to be the third order aberration with the help of Seidel's theory be clarified. The terms' should be used as they in the book by M. Berek: "Fundamentals of practical optics" are laid down. There the thicknesses of the lenses used are assumed to be small compared to their focal length can, for the sake of simplicity, will be calculated in the following with lenses with a thickness of zero will.
The lenses are numbered in the order of light movement, so the lens on the object side with i, the lens on the eye side with 2: the calculation lies then the following quantities are based, with all dimensions "on a focal length set equal to i of the lens on the eye side are normalized.
Vergrößerung -des Systems = v,
Linse z: . Brennweite f i = - v ,
The second radius x2 'of the lens can be found from the relationship The distance @ 2 is the distance from the lens 2 in which the object appears to be.
From @i, fi and ei 'results 'E = according to the invention - the exit pupil of the system lies in the second focal point of the lens 2. For the position of the entrance pupil in relation to the lens i one then finds zi = -fi = v. For the ratio of the heights of incidence of paraxial rays coming from the image at the lenses = and 2 applies A viewfinder with the specified data images an object at infinity in the distance with the magnification v again at infinity. In the event that either object width or image width or both become earthly, but remain large compared to the focal lengths of the lenses used, "the following considerations change only insignificantly.
An optical device is now listed when the fifth Seidel sum for the system equals zero.
It is useful to summarize these functions for the aperture error and the asymmetry error in lens part coefficients 91 and 21, or 23 and 22.
Funktion von n, v und r2.For the present case it follows from the known developments For the sake of simplicity, the refractive index has been equated here for both lenses. It can of course be expedient, in particular in order to remedy the color defects in a known manner, to manufacture both lenses from different types of glass. The formulas (a) to (5) and the other predetermined data of the optical system make it possible now to calculate the sums of the specific area coefficients. It surrenders In formula (z) you can use the factor with the help of the assumptions given at the beginning, express it by the quantity v With this the equation (z) becomes clear: If the equations (a) to (see above) are inserted into equation (z '), one obtains as . Function of n, v and r2.
If you set which means freedom from lexicon, one obtains an equation between n, v and r2, which is quadratic in. So you can as a function of n and v express una eats after a few transformations This function is for the area of interest shown in Fig. 3 with n as the parameter. The second lens radius is also at the same time marked with. is the curvature of the object-side surface of the positive lens, is the curvature of the eye-side surface of the positive lens.
Da in diesem. You can see that in principle two different deflections of the positive lens are possible for which the distortion of the viewfinder is zero. With one, the curvature of the object-side surface is stronger (upper dashed group of curves), with the other, the curvature of the eye-side surface is stronger (lower extended group of curves). Because in this. Case depending on the magnification of the System and depending on the value of the refractive index of the glass used can be both positive and negative, this case can be characterized by the fact that the curvature of the surface on the eye side is absolutely greater than that of the surface on the object side or that the radius of the surface facing the eye is absolutely smaller is than the surface of the lens facing away from the eye.
In the above calculations, as is well known, the developments of the trigonometric functions only considered up to the third order. Enter larger openings and beam inclinations deviations from the previous results are to be expected under certain circumstances. The correspondingly converted values of the exemplary embodiment are therefore in the graph inserted as a cross in this description. The embodiment is by trigonometric Calculation has been received. The refractive index is 1.5163. You can see that the The practical values deviate greatly from the results of Seidel's theory are low.
It is of course also conceivable to use the radii of the object-side viewfinder lens (x1, r, ') to be used to correct the aberrations. As a result of the shorter The focal length of this lens with the usual downsizing of the viewfinder are the radii the negative lens are also generally shorter than that of the positive lens and make it is less suitable for additional deflections than the lens on the eye side. Studies have also shown that the measures according to the invention are sufficient in order to correct the imaging errors to a satisfactory degree. That way will A significant advance achieved compared to previous methods, the distortion to reduce. For example, it was common practice to be the front link of the system to assemble from several individual parts, which of course increases the price would have.
The following serve as a numerical example for the finder according to the invention Information: Figure 4 shows a viewfinder with a reduction of I: 2 in which the negative lens a focal length of 20 mm and the positive lens a focal length of 40 mm.
