Bedeutung.Process for the production of sodium carbonate from Glauber's salt Process
for the production of sodium carbonate by the action of carbon dioxide in: presence
of steam and reducing agents on sodium sulfate are known. One has, for example
suggested, from alkali sulfates alkali hydroxide or. Alkalic.2rbonat thereby

Even when melted down in large melting vessels, the melt only offers the gases
its small surface available for the reaction. This is for them

In contrast, the invention consists in that molten Glauber's salt is dusted at temperatures above 100 °, expediently and 1500 °, into a reducing carbon dioxide and, if necessary, mixture also containing water vapor. This has the advantage of a continuous mode of operation on the one hand and the avoidance of the above-mentioned operational difficulties on the other hand. The belief that ezsalz is finely atomized and blown into the reaction chamber and so it comes. intimate with the reaction gases in immediate contact, which causes a considerable shortening of the reaction time. This in turn has the consequence that the sodium sulphate does not come into contact with the lining, but only the already converted products can reach the lining, so that the actual decomposition products of the lining cannot become dangerous. For these processes, the working temperature of iooo to i 500 "is also decisive.

Sodium carbonate can now be causticized immediately. Provided that there is still sodium sulphide
found, this can be converted into N: atrium carbonate by known processes
and then be causticed as well. The hydrogen sulfide is useful

The hydrogen sulfide is expelled from the solvent. This hydrogen sulfide
