Description
Welding rod for performing the welding process by electrical means and chemically generated heat There is already known a method in which by the welding heat on the one hand electrically by means of an arc between a Welding rod and the body to be welded and, on the other hand, chemically at the same time by a reaction which runs exothermically in the welding heat with the release of gas Additives (coating) carried by the welding rod are generated. With this well-known Method, a welding rod is used, the envelope of which is an under such Gas release reacting mixture contains that .by the gaseous reaction products the slag lying on the welding point is blown away.
.This blowing effect is achieved in the known method in that the envelope of the welding rod, which consists of 'an exothermic mixture, hydrates or carbonates or a mixture of two or more of these substances to the extent of 6 to about the weight of the Wrapping is included. The hydrates and carbonates can be added to the exothermic mixture or completely or partially replace its oxidizing substances. In the known welding rod, the carbonates are manganese. Calcium, magnesium, iron, barium carbonates, iron, manganese, aluminum, calcium and magnesium hydrates, as well as asbestos, kaolin, clay, hydrosilicates used as hydrates. The sheath of the known welding rod is composed, for example, of: 50% aluminum mixture, 15 ° fa silicon mixture, 15 ° 1% manganese mixture with 901, carbonates, 50/0 hydrates and 10% other substances (parts by weight). The whole thing is held together with the help of water glass or some other binding agent. .
The invention now relates to a welding rod which is equipped with an in the welding heat exothermic reacting and with blowing effect gas-releasing mixture is enveloped, and consists in that the envelope contains substances, which - at the melting point, gaseous reaction products in the range of a.7 to 5.4% - Develop the weight of the envelope.
Experience shows that with a welding rod according to the invention obtained welds greater tensile strength, ductility, notchability and have a remarkable freedom from pores compared to previous welds.
