Process for the preparation of paints It is known that one
can produce paints from pigments and water glass that, when painted on wood, create a
exercise some fire protection. In the open air, such colors burst after a short time
Time off because they have insufficient adhesive strength on wood. It is also known
that paints can be made from aqueous dispersions of polyethylene polysulphide,
Pigments and optionally dispersants, thickeners and binders.
B. Stein,
Putz, Zement, Beton, Dachpappe und Holz zweimal gestrichen. Zur Erzielung eines
Feuerschutzanstrichs auf Holz streicht man dreimal. U m die Farbe spritzfähig zu
machen, kann mit Wasser verdünnt werden. It has now been found that colors that give weatherproof films can be used
that will reliably hold up on wood outdoors if you use waterglass solutions
mixing aqueous dispersions of polyalkylene polysulfide and optionally pigments.
Paints with such colors have an even better flame retardant effect
as pure water glass colors. Except on wood, these colors can be used on stone, plaster,
Cement, concrete and macadam can be painted and will result on all of these substrates
weatherproof paints, while ordinary water glass paints e.g. B. on macadam inside
flake off in a very short time. It is known that waterglass paints can be made more elastic
can be made by adding hygroscopic substances such as gly @ erin to the water glass paints
or Zuck he, clogs. Apart from the fact that such additives increase the water resistance
and thus reduce the weather resistance of these paints, they will
no adhesion to wood or bitumen substrate achieved. Coatings with such
Colors on wood often flake off after just two days of weathering. Surrender to it
Paints according to the present invention on firmly adhering and weather-resistant paints
Bitumen, e.g. 11. Roofing felt or street m: akadam, and on wooden surfaces of all kinds.
The adhesive strength of these coatings is apparently equally good on the late
like the early wood zones of the wood, so that the well-known flaking along the late wood zones
does not occur. Since the paints with the colors according to the present
invention
They do not come off even in extreme heat and are themselves incombustible
excellent fire protection for wood, thus the problem of the weatherproof fire protection coating
found a new simple solution. To that with very long storage of such
Colors to avoid hardening of the polyalkylene polysulphide that may occur,
has an addition of arylsulfonic acid alkali salts, z. B. of p-toluenesulfonic acid
Potassium, proven. Example 3o parts of potassium water glass from 28 to 3o Bé are with 3o
Parts of chromium oxide green and 25 parts of a 600% strength aqueous dispersion of polyalkylene polysulphide
mixed. If this color is to be stored for a longer period of time, add to the above amount
I o parts of a 3o% solution of p-töluolsulfonsaurem potassium. This color
is spreadable and is used to achieve a weatherproof coating on z. B. Stone,
Plaster, cement, concrete, roofing felt and wood painted twice. To achieve a
Fire protection paint on wood is painted three times. To make the paint sprayable
can be diluted with water.
