Method and device for manufacturing shoe uppers from wickerwork
If you make braided shoes by cutting out the developed shape of the braided shoe upper part
from a sufficiently wide braid strip, it is true that a shoe upper is obtained
with continuous braid, but this cannot be done without braid distortion
and wrinkles on the curved shape of the molding over which
the piece of braid is bent into the required shape, bring it to the plant. To this one
To counteract shaping difficulties, one has divided the braid shoe upper part
in a narrow braided hem to be laid around the sole edge of the molding,
on which the missing part of the back of the foot must then be braided by hand. Included
The braid distortions and wrinkles that occur during shaping are indeed
reduced, but it creates a toe thickness that runs around the foot
thickened plaiting edge, which when wearing the footwear by pressure on and
Makes chafing on the foot noticeable.

In this case, a binding thread can also be woven into the edge part serving to form the lasting edge. Frame braiding in the braid of the lasting edge and the binding thread intertwined in this is so largely adapted to the situation in the finished shoe upper that only slight tightening movements of the binding thread are required in order to bring the lasting edge to bear smoothly on the last when shaping the last. In the illustrated embodiment, the fully braided shoe upper on the frame is closed at the heel. However, if the frame is designed accordingly, the connection seam can also be placed on the side. Should the shoe upper be seamlessly braided throughout. Thus, the braided frame is given an elevation corresponding to the position of the slip edge on the molding on the edge part corresponding to the slip-in edge of the shoe upper compared to the unwound position of the Zwickra.ndes on the braided frame.
