Description
Cathode ray switch for the purpose of periodic potential adjustment hzw. -conversion of one or more contacts for television purposes The ones that have become known so far Cathode ray switches worked so that the potential of the moving cathode ray Contactel @ ektrode hit could only be changed in one direction. It was then necessary with periodically repeated sweeping over a series of contacts, e.g. for the purpose of the time-changing intensity control of an image line on my television transmitter or receivers to provide appropriately dimensioned time constant members over which the charging of each contact or the capacity associated with it until the next Beam contact and potential adjustment, decay to a certain initial value could. However, this was of course not possible in this way, the potential of a from the cathode ray charged 'those control element, such as the grid of a tube or a Kerr cell electrode, practically constant until the next setting to keep. Neither could the potential of the contact electrode be arbitrarily positive or in a negative direction, but can only be changed in one sense.
It is @ also already known, this latter deficiency because of this to remedy that one by means of a cathode ray, which is controlled in its intensity the switch contacts to the one corresponding to the respective beam intensity Secondary emission equilibrium potential: sets. In this way you can the potential of a switch contact in positive or negative, depending on your requirements Change direction, but on the whole there is only a proportionate effect smaller Potential area are traversed. This technical deficiency is addressed by the invention be eliminated.
In the cathode ray switch of the present type for the purpose of periodic Setting or changing the potential of one or more contacts, in particular for television zones, according to the invention, each contact consists of two identical contacts Poles, between which a current transfer in both directions when bombarded with electrons becomes possible. All poles of the one kind are immediate, all poles the of another type via associated series capacitances with the terminals -an external source variable or controllable voltage connected.
After the invention, which is explained schematically in Fig. R, swept over the switching cathode ray with constant; unmodulated intensity a contact system, which consists of two opposing poles 3, ¢. Let z be an amplifier tube with the anode resistance 2, at which: a time-variable potential difference occurs. The cathode ray triggers at both poles 3, q. Secondary electrons from or creates between them the possibility of an electricity transport in one or the other other direction, whereby the capacitor 5 can be charged and discharged. Will Now, as shown in Fig. 2, all poles of the one kind, ¢, directly to one terminal of the Anode resistor 2 placed as a source of variable electromotive force, while the poles of the other kind, 3, have associated series capacities 5, 5 ', 5 " etc. are all connected to the second terminal of 2, everyone charges these series capacitors as soon as the two poles of its switching path from the cathode ray touched and thereby bridged, to the value of that supplied by the source t, 2 Momentary tension. It does not matter whether this voltage is positive or not Aest negative, because the switching path conducts in both directions and the electrons sucked off on the more positive side. So if you think of yourself in one such switch the moving cathode ray over and over again the same series of Coating contact systems of the type described, the charging voltage of the individual series capacitors 5, 5 ', 5 "# -. each time erratically, namely can be changed in a positive or negative direction, depending on which one Sense and degree meanwhile the tension of the source had shifted. as Source in this sense can be any generator of electromotive force, preferably the tube shown t, serve whose grid z. B. controlled by an image scanner and at the external resistance of which the variable emf occurs accordingly, the series capacitors of the individual Schaltstreckbn on their respective instantaneous values are to be charged or discharged. The cathode ray itself remains unmodulated and only serves as a generator for the bridging electrons.
With the arrangement described, the cathode ray can, as before common to be moved in a closed circular path. Appropriately, per however, by a sawtooth-shaped deflection voltage or a sawtooth-shaped deflection current guided over a flat line of contacts; however, funds must then be provided be to blank the beam during the retrace across the row of contacts.
Abb. 2 i. In order to be independent of fluctuations in the beam position or the shape of the focal spot the distance between the poles of the switching electrodes is uniform in both directions To make conductive, these electrodes are expediently designed so that they are in penetrate the impact zone of the cathode ray in a comb-like manner or in an equivalent manner (See Fig. 2 i. The capacities 5, 5 ', 5 ", etc. can be added separately Be capacitors, but partly also from the natural capacities of the arrangement, z. From the grid cathode capacitance of an amplifier tube or from the electrodes a Kerr cell.
