Description
Bei Fernsehsende- bzw. -empfangsröhren benutzt man häufig· doppelseitige Mosaikschinne. In the case of television transmission and reception tubes, double-sided mosaic troughs are often used. These consist e.g. B. from a fine, coated with insulating glass-like enamel S network of electrically conductive wire. The interstices between the meshes are generally filled with electrically conductive silver particles, the mosaic elements, which are isolated from each other and from the mesh: their surface is oxidized and treated with cesium so that they emit high levels of photo and secondary electrons. In the case of such electrodes, the enamel must insulate very well in order to have low leakage currents from the mosaic elements to the network. As a result, enamel with an insulation resistance of 10 to 10 to 12 ohms per cm s has already been used. Unfortunately, the previously known mosaic electrodes of the type described do not retain this good insulation in operation.
It was found that this insulation deterioration due to diffusion into it of the silver in the commonly used enamel. According to the invention are now for the mosaic elements those metals are used that diffuse little into the enamel layer, e.g. B. Nickel, platinum or palladium (be there left open whether the migration of the metal is a real diffusion or is a dissolving in the enamel flow). The mosaic elements can on their free surfaces be covered with another metal, e.g. silver, which by oxidation and treatment with cesium or other alkali metal surfaces of high photoor Secondary electron emission supplies.
The mosaic electrode according to the invention can be produced, for example, in the following manner. A fine wire mesh made of nickel, which is useful in a frame. is stretched out, is advantageously provided with an enamel coating, preferably by spraying, after weak oxidation up to the Grimf. One can use the types of enamel commonly used for ferrous metals ίο; However, in the case of a nickel mesh, the use of an enamel in which the content of alkali and silica is considerably higher and the content of boric acid is lower than in the types of enamel usually used has proven advantageous. Such enamel has already been proposed and has the particular advantage that it dissolves metals only slightly and has a high electrical resistance. The gaps in the network are then filled with a metal such as nickel, platinum or palladium, which diffuses only slightly into the enamel coating. For this purpose, the spaces can be filled with a certain amount of fine nickel powder mixed with rosin oil, which is slightly diluted with turpentine, so that it forms a semi-liquid paste. This is brushed into the umbrella with a camel hair brush until the gaps are completely filled. The surface of the electrode is cleaned by removing the excess material with a cloth lightly moistened with acetone. As a result, the mosaic elements become slightly concave on their surface at the same time. The metal powder was conveniently sifted through a 400 mesh net prior to pasting to remove any particles larger than 25 microns. After cleaning the screen, bake it for about 15 minutes at 200 to 300 : C in air to drive off the resin oil and turpentine. Then you heat. again for half an hour to an hour in air at 400 to 600 D C to sinter the metal powder into a cohesive mass. Sintering the nickel powder creates a mosaic electrode which withstands normal mechanical vibrations during use without the metal particles falling out of the gaps; at the same time, the electrical resistance of the mosaic elements decreases.
B. folgende Lösung als Elektrolyt dient:Although a mosaic electrode produced in this way can be used directly in television transmission and receiver tubes, it is advantageous to apply a different metal to the free surfaces of the mosaic elements, which forms a better base for a 6.1 photosensitive electrode than the base metal Elements. For this reason, a thin silver coating on the elements is recommended. A uniform secondary emission of the individual particles is then obtained when they are hit by high-speed electrons who j d-_n. This silver layer may be sensibilisiiert 'or to achieve the desired secondary emission characteristics during the evacuation process in the tube in which it is to be used, suitably treated. In the event that nickel particles are used, any nickel oxide that may have formed during the sintering process must be removed by heating the electrode in a hydrogen atmosphere for about 3 minutes at 100 ° C before the thin silver coating is applied to the mosaic elements The metal coating can be applied electrolytically, in which case, for example, the following solution serves as the electrolyte:
Natriumcyanid . . 141,75 g,Sodium cyanide. . 141.75 g,
Silbercyanid 99,26 g,Silver cyanide 99.26 g,
Natriumcarbonat . 141,75 g,Sodium . 141.75 g,
Wasser 4,54 1.Water 4.54 1.
The mosaic electrode is hung in this solution between a silver anode and a nickel cathode. For a screen size of about 130 cm 2 , an electric current of 600 mA was used for a period of 10 minutes. A sufficiently thick silver coating was formed, which was very photosensitive after oxidation and sensitization with cesium or another alkali metal.
Mosaic electrodes according to the invention can also be used when it is desirable that the free surfaces of the mosaic elements only on one side of the electrode are sensitized, while the opposite side is only slightly or Has no photosensitivity. In this case it is desirable to have the silver plating only apply to one side of the electrode while moving the mosaic elements not coated on the opposite side. To do this, cover this side of the Electrode with a layer of paraffin or some other substance to prevent the deposition of Silver prevents. Paraffin is used. so the paraffin layer can be baked the whole arrangement at a temperature of 100 to 200 C in air for the duration about 15 minutes.
Außerdem hatThe resistance subject of the invention is, even after prolonged operations between io ö and ΐο 1υ ohms per cm 3 as compared with a resistance of 7 to 10 ίο * ohms per cm 3 for mosaic electrodes with silver particles after prolonged operations. Also has
Solche Elektroden sind also besonders vorteilhaft für Kathodenstrahlsende- und -empfängerröhren, bei denen Wert auf ein gleichmäßig gutes Bild gelegt wird.result that electrodes according to the Invention less often a direct contact between the metal particles and the Own base plate. Such electrodes are particularly advantageous for cathode ray transmission and receiver tubes, where value is placed on a consistently good picture.
