oder i Teil Calciumcarbid mit i Teil Natronsalpeter erwiesen.
kohlenstoff-
altigen Stoffes eingeleitet und damit eine
@he Temperatur erzielt, bei der die Herd-
acke sich zu verflüssigen beginnt. Durch
ehe weitere Einwirkung der Verbrennungsrück-
de der Mischung auf die flüssig werdende

lebhaft abzufließen.Process for removing iron oxide-containing slag in rolling mill furnaces. B. in roller and pusher furnaces, it is known that the scale dripping or jumping off the rolling stock used accumulates, which then cakes to form more or less large cusps. According to their chemical composition, these humps consist for the most part. Iron oxides, to which stone material dripping from the vault or abrasion from the brickwork of the hearth are added. In order to prevent the hearth from overgrowing, these humps must be removed from time to time. While it is actually possible in the case of small or medium-sized herds to clean their humps during operation, the large herds can only be melted smoothly during breaks. High-percentage silicon alloys or aluminum and its alloys, and also copper alloys such as bronze, brass and the like, are used almost exclusively to melt away these bumps. These resources are great. expensive and must be kept free for other purposes for reasons of economy. The mode of action of the agents mentioned is based on a kind of thermite effect, ie achieving a very high temperature, which also includes a partial lowering of the melting point and lowering of the viscosity of the slag due to the formation of low-melting reaction products. In isolated cases, gray cast iron alloys in the form of chips are also used to melt away the bumps. The efficiency of the also not cheap gray cast iron chips is much lower than that of the aforementioned alloys and does not lead
always to the desired success. At all @

Achieve acidic liquidation of the hearth slag. . .
According to the invention are now shown with: el, the: the liquefaction of the stove '. cause slag and thus the removal of the humps at a much lower furnace temperature. These agents have the further advantage that they are significantly cheaper than the high-quality alloys mentioned, which can now be used for other, more important purposes. As a result, the furnace operation is also made more economical. These agents according to the invention are mixtures of solid fuels or other high-carbon substances of an organic or inorganic nature, e.g. B. pitch, charcoal, thick tar or calcium carbide, with oxygen-releasing agents such as nitrates, chlorates, manganates, manganese dioxide or sodium peroxide. A mixture of 1 part coal or coke breeze and 2 parts sodium nitrate or 1 part calcium carbide with 1 part sodium nitrate has proven to be most expedient. It has surprisingly been found that the last-mentioned mixture is particularly suitable for melting the slag during operation, since it has a particularly rapid effect. It was also found that the grain size of the fuels in these mixtures is 0.5 to 2 mm, in the case of calcium carbide it is expedient to be about 5 to 10 mm. The oxygen-releasing agents are added in powder form. It has proven to be advantageous to place the mixtures in the briquetted or appropriately packaged state on the hearth points to be freed from the slag. After the mixture has been placed on the stove, the oxygen released from the oxygen-releasing agents immediately burns the carbon contained in the mixture. old substance introduced and thus a
