Description

Method of sterilizing medical blood transfer devices It is known that when boiling medical equipment for the purpose of sterilization in undistilled water, e.g. B. in field hospitals, smaller hospitals, in the absence of distilled water the devices vary depending on the lime content of the cover the water used with a more or less thick layer of lime. This annoying phenomenon is particularly evident in devices used for blood transfer used, the worst consequences. While z. B. Donor blood that is in with amber or synthetic resin vessels boiled with distilled water are collected, remains unchanged for a long time, it is sufficient to boil these vessels with undistilled Limescale build-up in water to prevent the blood from clotting in these itself Accelerate blood-clotting vessels. It is already known for softening of water organic acids, e.g. B. oxalic acid or tartaric acid to use. Through this the hardness components are precipitated in insoluble form. Furthermore, when processing of water for brewing purposes, the addition of lactic acid can be particularly advantageous.

In contrast, it has been found that it is possible to remove the annoying limescale deposits on medical equipment, e.g. B. surgical instruments or vessels that are used for blood transfer, to prevent that the non-distilled water to be used for boiling the equipment is neutralized by adding citric acid, whereby the lime present in the water is kept in solution. The amount of citric acid required for this is determined by an indicator that is added at the same time. , @ ,. L. . During the boiling process, medical science. ' with pretreatment like this> k1 Water does not form any italic knee joints so that such devices for blood transfer "- ' can be used, and in addition, the small amounts of citrate present in the water droplets adhering to the devices have a beneficial effect in that they, as is known, inhibit blood coagulation.

In Ausühung the invention one uses the citric acid expediently in the form of tablets, which at the same time a suitable indicator, for. B. bromocresol purple contain. But you can also use the citric acid in another form, for. B. use in dissolved form and set them and the indicator separately. Example In the water used for sterilization - d as much citric acid in the form of ta- . t'211, the 0.59 citric acid and one a pH of 5 to 6 appealing Indicator included, resolved that the color envelope occurs. The devices are boiled in the usual way in the water pretreated in this way.
