Auf diese Weise bilden die Kunststoffe mit den Stofflagen in bezug auf Form und Dicke einen gleichmäßigen Körper, bei dem die Stofflagen als Füllmittel dienen. Mittels dieses gleichmäßig verstärkten festen Streifens wird die Bespannung an den Gerüstteilen des Flugzeuges durch Schrauben, Nieten ο. dgl. befestigt.
