Description
Process for the production of vegetable tanning extracts Vegetable Tanning extracts are generally produced industrially in such a way that they contain tannins Bark or wood can be extracted with water in the heat. The downside to this Process consists in the fact that only such tanning materials can be processed, which dissolve the tanning agent in a substantially cold or hot water solubility Shape included. In addition, the tannins have to be fairly permanent in order for them to be not destroyed by the high temperature required for extraction with water or their tanning properties are impaired. These requirements but are with many, especially with local raw materials containing tannins not given. So it is z. B. not yet possible, the sensitive To win oak bark tanning agent in perfect form, and you also have z. B. not yet those in heavily forged bark, z. B. in pine bark contained considerable Ilengen of tannin made usable because no one knew how to use these tannins to win.
Bei bestimmtem Ausgangsgut und Arbeitsbedingungen fällt sogar der überwiegeilcle Teil des mit organischen Lösungsmitteln extrahierten Gerbstoffes in wassertinlöslicher Form an.It is known, for the extraction of vegetable tanning agents organic Lösun, -smittel such as ether, alcohols, Essigester 0. like., Or to use mixtures thereof. These processes have, but have not attained any technical importance, since extracts are obtained which contain large quantities of water-insoluble tannins, resins and the like and, as a result, only give unsatisfactory yields of tannin solutions. With certain starting materials and working conditions, even the predominant part of the tannin extracted with organic solvents is obtained in water-soluble form.
It has been found that water-soluble tannin extracts can be obtained with better yields from wood and bark containing tannins, in particular from corked bark Extract with organic solvents or solvent mixtures, which Tanning agents, especially condensed and water-insoluble tanning agents, züi are able to solve, obtained if one after the products obtained during the extraction sulphited the process known for the styling of insoluble tannins. If necessary, grease and resin-like components can be added before sulfitation removed indifferent organic solvent and optionally obtained separately , whereby the process can be made even more productive.
Löseextrakten (Stilfitcellilloseextrak-t), in bekannt#:r Weise in wasserlösliche Form überführen lassen. The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for processing the bark of pines or other conifers which contain the majority of the tannin in a form that is difficult to dissolve or insoluble in water. It was not previously known that obtained clier solvent significant amounts VOA> z3 water-insoluble tannins - even from such Rolistoffen in which the usual Gerbstoffanalvse (extraction init water) results in Iair a low tannin content and which have been so far not considered for Gerbstoffgewinnung contemplated by extraction using suitable organic solvent extracts (Stilfitcellilloseextrak-t), in known # may be, which it is init Natriiinistilfit or Natriumbi> ulfit by simple Sulfitieiung # or s by adding this:. r way can be converted into water-soluble form, the 'learn by your \ of. Etfindun extracts also have the advantage that they contain relatively few non-tanning agents.
It is already known '. To convert insoluble tannins, in particular the water-insoluble plilobaphenic tannins, into water-soluble form by sulphiting the coextract. It was also known to use organic solvents, such as, for. B. alcohol, zui extract. So far, there has been no important knowledge that the substances that can be extracted with organic solvents and are insoluble in water have been discarded as unsuitable, are tannins and are transformed into a water-soluble form through styling For the extraction, all those organic solvents come into consideration which dissolve G, in particular also condensed and water-insoluble tannins, in particular the water-miscible organic solvents, such as lower alcohols, ketones (acetone), ethers (dioxane) or Nitriles, as well as low-boiling esters which are only miscible with water to a limited extent, such as, for example, ethyl acetate. Mixtures of these solvents can of course also be used, and inert solvents such as hydrocarbons can also be added largely according to the nature of the tannins to be obtained extracts from the solvent z. B. freed by evaporation and the residue by sulfiting with known sulfiting agents, such as sodium sulfite or bisulfite, made water-soluble.
The extractions are carried out in a known manner in extraction apparatus or diffusers carried out. The solvents used are recovered.
Optionally, in the process according to the invention, before or after the extraction with the organic solvents, an extraction of the starting material be switched on with water. By uniting through extraction with organic Solvents on the one hand and subsequent sulfitation and by extraction with Extracts obtained from water, on the other hand, lead to particularly good tannins.
In the following, the new method will be explained in more detail using a few exemplary embodiments. The working conditions are to be adapted to the source material in each individual case and can be changed within relatively wide limits. Example 1 100 parts of well-comminuted pine bark are exhaustively extracted with acetone. Even after the solvent has evaporated, the residue (170 /,) is freed from fatty and resinous substances by extraction with ether and benzene. About 2/3 of the extract (80% or on original bark) obtained in this way is insoluble in water. For sulphiting, the product is sulphited successively with sodium sulphite and -1) isulphite at 100% and this action is repeated several times (with the solution being poured off) so that a total of 10% sulphite are acted upon within 10 hours. This gives 04 '/ "of this material as a water-soluble tanning agent and 241 /, as a water-soluble non-tanning agent. Example? -Ioo parts of well-comminuted pine bark with a water content of 9.5% and a tanning agent content determined in the usual way by extraction with water of 0.37% are exhaustive with a mixture of solvents consisting of methyl alcohol, methyl acetate and ethyl acetate, as is commercially available (see Ullmann, Enzyklopadie der technischen Chetnie, 1931, 7th volume, p. 379) under the name "E 13" After evaporation of the solvent, 6.7% dry extract is obtained. After removal of the fatty and resinous substances by extraction with petroleum ether and ether, 40% tannic residue remains, about 60% of which are insoluble in water Most of the extract can be obtained as a water-soluble tanning agent with similar properties to the tanning agent obtained according to Example 1 by sulfitation.
Die Anteilzahl des erhaltenen Extraktes beträgt 61.The tannins made from pine bark or bark result in very beautiful, light and full leather. Example 3 100 parts of well-chopped spruce bark are exhaustively extracted with the solvent mixture according to Example: 2. After evaporation of the solvent, 18% dry extract is obtained. After the fatty and resinous substances have been dissolved out, 15.61 / 0 tannin-containing residue remains, about half of which is soluble in water and 2811/0 contains water-soluble tannin. Sulphiting gives 47% of the extract as a water-soluble tannin and 35% as a water-soluble non-tanning material. 1 Example 4 100 parts of finely chopped spruce bark with a water content of 12.5% and a tannin content of 9.5% determined by extraction with water using the filter method of quantitative tannin analysis (Gerbereichemisches Taschenbuch, 4th edition 1938, p. 123) exhaustively extracted with ordinary methyl alcohol. After evaporation of the solvent, 23.2010 dry residue (calculated on the original rind) is obtained .5 (/, water-soluble tanning agent, corresponding to 11.71 / "based on the original bark. The percentage of the extract obtained is 61.
Die Anteilzahl beträgt 64.If the bark extracted with methane: ol is then exhaustively extracted with water, the extraction temperature being gradually increased from room temperature to 1000 , a further 3.81 / 0 tannins are obtained, so that the total yield of tannins is 15.511 / 0 , which corresponds to a higher yield of 63: 2% compared to the simple cash extraction. Example 5 Good comminuted spruce bark is ordinarily (96'0 / igern) 'ethyl alcohol extracted exhaustively. After the solvent has been stripped off and the fat and resin components removed by means of ether, 17,407 dry extract remains which, after sulfitation, yields 49,80,10 water-soluble tanning agent, corresponding to 8 --7 "/ o tanning agent, based on the original bark Number of shares is 64.
Aufl. 1938, S. 1231). Die Steigerung der Gesamtausbente beträgt 36,8 11/0.If the bark extracted by means of ethyl alcohol is exhaustively extracted with water at increasing temperature, then more: 4.90 / 0 tannin ( based on the original bark) can be obtained, so that on the whole i3.6% tannin are obtained compared to one Tannin content of 9.50%, determined by extraction with water using the filter method of quantitative tannin analysis (Gerbereichemisches Taschenbuch, 4th edition, 1938, p. 123) . This corresponds to a yield increase of 43.2%. Example 6 100 parts of ground spruce bark are subjected to exhaustive extraction with acetone. The extract brought to dryness is treated with ether to remove the fat and resin components. The residue obtained (8 "/, of the original child), after sulfitation, gives 69.4" /, water-soluble tannin, corresponding to a tannin yield of 5.5'10, based on the original bark. The percentage of the extract is 71. In the subsequent exiraction with water, a further 7 "/ o tannins, based on the original bark, are obtained. The total tannin yield is 13.0% compared to 5% (determined by the filter method of quantitative tannin analysis [Gerbereichemisches Taschenbuch, 4th ed. 1938, p. 1231). The increase in total expenditure is 36.8 11/0.
