Herstellung spannungsfreier Gläser Die für optische Geräte verwendeten
Gläser müssen weitgehend spannungsfrei sein.Manufacture of stress-free glasses The ones used for optical devices
Glasses must be largely free of tension.
In a known process, this state is achieved by
that the glasses are heated slowly in an oven to a few hundred degrees and then very slowly
be cooled by increasing the oven temperature for a very long time, gradually
is lowered to room temperature. Another method is to use the heated
Glasses in materials with poor thermal conductivity, e.g. B._Sawdust; packed.
In order to slowly cool objects made of glass, it has also been suggested that
bring the items to my container so that the heat only slowly comes out of the
Inside the vessel to the outside. To 'do a slow cooling down
to ensure that warm air has been pumped through the vessel and the pressure has been reduced,
the destruction of the casting vessel walls by the overpressure caused by the heat
to avoid. Finally there is already a partial evacuation of the vessel in which
The glass objects to be cooled have been suggested to reduce the cooling
slow down and thereby achieve a certain uniformity of the 'temperature
-and above all to promote the escape of gases from the glass ..
All of these known methods are correct in the essential feature
agree that the heat at the interface between glass and air passes through the air
(Convection and thermal conductivity) is gradually dissipated.
' .It has now been found that in the manufacture of stress-free glasses
a new process for heating and cooling bxingt particular advances.
According to the invention. be dve'G1äs; he exheated or cooled my room, the on
below i now Hg, preferably to less than o, oi nvn Hg is evacuated. '.
In this new process, the heating and cooling takes place
Glasses practically only through thermal radiation. The rule, such extreme vacuums
to use,
namely results compared to the known above-described
Process fundamental differences in the type of heat transfer. The heat transfer
in Gaseri there is also conduction and convection (gas flow) through 'radiation through heat ='.
IK radiation is not influenced by the lowering of the vacuum. While
Although the convection is reduced by lowering the air pressure, the
Heat transfer by conduction when the air pressure is reduced is initially complete
unchanged. As with the known processes that are not carried out in extreme vacuums
the heat dissipation from the glasses by an opposite normal air pressure
unchanged thermal conduction happens next to the unchanged thermal radiation occurs
there is still a temperature gradient in the piece of glass to be cooled down, which the
Corresponds to the amount of heat generated by conduction from the surface of the glass
the air is led away. With the new process, the situation is perfect
different. At pressures below 1 mm H- the thermal conductivity of the gases decreases
pretty suddenly proportional to the pressure. The present invention addresses this
known, striking behavior of the gases technically. By cooling down below
Such low pressures also increase the heat dissipation by conduction
reduced to practically all at pressures below 0.07 mm Hg
to disappear. The cooling only takes place at such low pressures
by radiation. The same processes take place in reverse when heating
the glass place.
selbst in Wärmeenergie umgesetzt.
in Erscheinung tritt.
Since the glasses for ultrared radiation (heat radiation) have a very strong
Have absorption, the radiation destroyed by absorption in the glass
even converted into thermal energy. Since the heat is generated in the glass itself,
it can be heated up much faster than with transmission by convection
or # conduction. If the radiation comes from both sides of the glass,
is: it # '@, g @ o; warms pretty evenly in all places. 'Same progress
when cooling the glasses in: a vacuum below: i mm Hg, preferably
reached under o, oi mm H. While cooling by convection or conduction
there is a heat flow from the inside of the glass to the surface of the glass - and thus different
Temperatures at different depths of the glass are essential when cooling
a practically even cooling guaranteed by radiation, so that no
significant temperature gradient between deeper layers of glass and the surface
appears. The glasses can therefore be essential in the new process
be cooled faster than with the previously known methods, and their absence of tension
becomes even cheaper.
angeordnet. In order to exclude any temperature gradient, the glasses are at the
new method expedient on good heat-insulating materials in the high vacuum vessel
arranged.
