Abstract
Description
Technischer BereichTechnical part
The The present invention relates generally to protective devices for the Tips of hypodermic needles.
Allgemeiner Stand der TechnikGeneral state of the technology
The Occurrence of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) with the increasing frequency of other blood-borne ones Pathogens such as the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the hepatitis C virus (HCV) provides one for health care workers previously unknown in modern medicine professional risk The risk of contracting HIV through a needlestick injury to infect 1 to 250, but for those who are living with HIV as a result of a needlestick injury the risk becomes 1 to 1. The risk of infection with the stronger contagious HBV as a result of a needlestick injury is in the range from 1 to 6 to 1 to 30. There are also more than twenty hematogenous pathogens, which over transmit the blood and body fluids become. The presence of any of these pathogens in patients poses for the employees of health care a risk if invasive procedures are used. Infectious diseases are now behind heart disease and cancer the third most common Cause of death, reflecting the growing need for subcutaneous equipment even higher Safety underlines. Ten years ago were infectious diseases as the fifth most common Categorized cause of death, and now they are in third place. These Increase in infectious diseases is mainly due to the excessive use of antibiotics and increasing availability attributed to reusable, hollow needle subcutaneous equipment.
There The total number of infected people is increasing, and more People treated by health workers, causing continued the possibilities for disease transmission from the patient to the health care worker. Also, the use of disposable hypodermic equipment has one annual Increase of approximate 7% up.
In addition, everywhere is on a considerable one in the world Number of concurrent patient-patient transfers in healthcare facilities been found. morning Data suggest that inappropriate infection control techniques make a direct contribution to this increase. This includes the improper use of subcutaneous equipment, Drug vials for Multiple dosing and failure of the Change of protective gloves and equipment for each new patient.
Recent studies mention also the detection of significant blood contamination on the brackets reusable blood collection tubes, which routinely for the removal used by blood from different patients. It is common practice a holder for the suction tubes along with 100 blood collection tubes to be shipped. It is likely that in the future too new ways of disease transmission be found. The health care workers are running increasingly Risk of disease transmission, and the sisters lead the majority of invasive subcutaneous procedures such as injecting medicines, taking blood and that Insertion of venous (IV) infusion catheters. Sisters and other healthcare workers are injured routinely through the exposed sharp lancet of the cannula after its use at one Patients. The critical time in which a percutaneous injury can happen, from the moment in which the cannula from the Patients or the venous access is pulled out by the time where the contaminated cannula safely put aside.
It gives approximate in the US 5.6 million workers whose jobs put them at risk of contracting a random one Suspend needlestick injury. The medical literature mentions that every year nearly one million are recorded in the USA Needlestick accidents occurs, assuming that there are another two-thirds not recorded accidents gives. A million injuries a year means on average a needlestick injury every thirty-two seconds. Before the erratic Increase in HIV and serum hepatitis became a needle stick injury regarded as a routine act of patient care. A needlestick injury has a life-threatening risk today, and that Employee of health care need to be with each day live this horror.
Subcutaneous cannulas become in a wide variety of medical invasive procedures used, with annual Approximate base 12 billion units are consumed. Basically, that is size A plurality of hypodermic needles for intended for single use on a single patient, and they are in a sterile state in a variety of lengths and Diameters provided. Subcutaneous cannulas usually go down a one-time use in a specially constructed puncture resistant, disposed of biologically safe container.
Find hypodermic needles in medicine, in science, in veterinary medicine, in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry, but also in the chemical industry use. The use in the Medicine and veterinary medicine involves the injection of drugs or diluents into a patient or venous access, the removal of blood, body fluids or samples of Patients and the preparation of medicines. In biotechnology, in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry become toxic, highly reactive, corrosive acting materials or substances in a variety of experiments or projects combined or removed.
In spite of all obvious dangers associated with dealing with exposed cannulas related, and the availability of manually operated Safety devices for subcutaneously cannulas dominate in the market unprotected exposed hypodermic needles still. This is on the usual Practice in the industry back respectively, where exposed hypodermic needles sold at discount prices and along with other medical equipment and Shipping goods be packed. Medical facilities keep buying exposed hypodermic needle in this way simply for economic reasons.
The A fundamental problem with many of today's safety subcutaneous devices is that they are for it are provided, operated by hand to become, or in the language of industrial medical technology, that they consider as "active" devices become. You can quite protective shields, retractable cannulas, movable protective covers or the like, but they generally demand that the User an additional Operation executes, so that the safety mechanism comes into effect. Even if already a number of devices are available in which the cannulas are inserted into the Syringe are sunk, but are related to the production costs These devices are so high that they are hardly affordable.
