Abstract

The support consists of two lateral vertical panels (2,3) which bear against opposite walls of the trench, in cooperation with a supporting portal structure (4). The portal has a pair of lateral upright members (5,6) linked by a horizontal transverse bar (7), each lateral member being detachably secured to one of the vertical panels. Each panel has a pivotable spacer bar (14,15) which is movable to cooperate with the spacer of the corresponding opposite panel to define a transverse support between the panels after removal of the portal structure. The portal is attached to the panels by engagement of its upright members in straps (31,32) on the inner panel faces and by removable locking pins (53,54) at the upper part of each panel. <IMAGE>
