Description
Flushing head for rock drills For rock drills and machines are ring-shaped, closed flushing heads to be placed on the shaft end of the drill known, however, with the help of soft seals inflated by the water pressure made of rubber o. The like. Sealed. When using 'the known face seals of cross-section for this purpose, the two open facing each other Sides are used, the otherwise peculiar to these faceplate gaskets must be pre-pressed against the sealing surface as small as possible 'to be kept at all allow the drill shafts to be pushed in without distorting the faceplate; but there is again the risk that when the water pressure starts, the Right from the start, water does not work towards strengthening the sealing, but rather passes between the sealing sleeves and the drill shank to the outside, so that poetry does not occur at all or only imperfectly.
In order to ensure that the drill part enclosed by the flushing head you have the same square or polygonal profile as the drill insert end Annular seals proposed, the passage of which corresponds to the profile of the drill shank is adapted to rotate with the drill to with their outward facing To seal the legs of their U-profile on the inside wall of the flushing head. As with this arrangement the water entering the profile probably 'the legs, but not that on the drill shaft able to deform the adjacent part; become anpressang the Sealing rings on the drill shaft used leaf springs that make the seals ring-shaped enclose. By using the additional springs, however, the installation of the Sealing rings in the one-piece flushing head and the insertion of the The drill shaft into the sealing rings compressed to the smallest passage extremely difficult, as on the other hand with existing differences in the Dimensions of the drill shank and, if the sealing rings are worn, the contact pressure also easily gets too high or too low. Beyond that, however, is through the taking place on the largest diameter of the sealing rings due to the sealing pressure Braking the resulting wear is not inconsiderable.
It is true that such a system can be properly sealed in another way Aimed for flushing heads by hose-like, elastic sealing rings are used, which due to their originally round cross-section Diameter of the drill shank have smaller inner diameter, so that they when Insertion of the drill shaft are deformed in their cross section so that they adapt to the roughly rectangular shape of the ring grooves. Due to this deformation already given tight contact against the shaft of the drill can still be supported thereby that the interior of the hoses through channels with the detergent supply line is associated. The basic seal created by this deformation has but the disadvantage that from the outset the pressure and thus the wear are considerable is. To compensate for this again, the hoses must be relatively thick be formed so that in 'connection with the tubular closed Shape again the influence of inflation by the water pressure is low; the pre-seal due to the deformation and the resealing due to the inflation are here in a certain contradiction.
The invention makes use of the first-described design of such flushing heads back in the sense that inserting the drill shaft without deforming the rubber seals takes place, so that here the seal is only effected by the water pressure. But in order to eliminate the phenomenon mentioned, that with the onset of water pressure the water can pass between the seal and the drill shaft, with which the pressing is at least impaired by the water pressure, is the one on the Provide the drill shank with grooves on the inside of the sealing ring, which work together in the manner of a labyrinth seal, in any case -the U-shaped open 'foot surface of the sealing ring free to act The water pressure that is applied maintains the excess weight and thus the final seal is flawless manufactures.
In the accompanying drawings, are various embodiments of the subject matter of the invention in longitudinal sections through the flushing head in Figs. i, 2 and 3 reproduced.
The shank io of the insertion end ii of the drill i2 engages through the closed rinsing head 13, to which the water used for rinsing is fed through the connection 14 to enter the longitudinal bore 17 of the drill through the outer bore 16 through the annular groove il. The seals 18, which have an outwardly open U-shaped cross section, the cavity of which is directly acted upon by the water pressure through the bores 19, now lie in the annular recesses of the flushing head. On the inner surface, the sealing rings i8 have the indentations 2o, which are connected one behind the other in the sense of a labyrinth dowel: Since the sealing rings 18 have the diameter of the shaft end io, there is initially no risk of entanglement when the shaft end is inserted into the flushing head. If the individual ring parts protruding between the recesses 2o are initially pressed a little, they spring back into their normal position. But since there is no sealing bias of the rings i8 against the shaft end io when the water pressure is applied, or only at the same level as the known face seals, the labyrinth seal 2o ensures that the passage for the water is ensured from the outset between the sealing rings and the drill shank ab ° _-locks or is at least made more difficult to the extent that the water pressure acting on the U-shaped circumference of the rubber seal gains the upper hand in order to press the sealing rings on at all and thus completely can.
At the same time, as a result of avoiding a deformation of the sealing rings which is necessary from the outset, their wear is reduced, as well as due to their design on the one hand and the permissible small dimensions on the other hand in connection with the U-shaped open; When the cross-section is placed directly under the water pressure, the pressure is again favored, so that the seal is guaranteed even after wear and tear has occurred. The embodiments according to fig. 2 and 3 differ only in the shape of the sealing rings: while in fig. I the protruding ring parts or ring webs of the labyrinth seal have a relatively small radial height, the latter is so enlarged in the form according to fig that the ring ridges after. their pressing against the drill shank io with this freely participate in the relative movements to the flushing head housing 13 occurring during drilling as a result of the piston blows in the axial direction, the webs thus executing pendulum-like movements. To enable these movements, the outer ring webs of the seals 18 in FIG. 2, in contrast to FIG. This shape has the important advantage that the jerky back and forth movements of the drill caused by the piston blows have no influence on the wear of the seals, which significantly increases their service life compared to all seals with fixed sealing surfaces. The seals according to Fig. I probably already have the same advantage, but to a lesser extent, since the outer webs are fixed on one side and the webs as a whole cannot oscillate as far.
Another variant of the sealing rings is shown in Fig. 3. A or several Ririgstege are in such a mirror-like manner diagonally to the drill shaft; ft io, that when the flushing agent pressure is applied, the bending mechanism acting on the webs becomes effective in the sense of an additional seal; here, in a sense, lies one combined labyrinth and faceplate seal.
