Abstract

The present invention has as its object a perfected machine for the counting and checking of banknotes of any size, even overlapped, which exhibits the peculiarity of including a station for the insertion of the banknotes (2), downstream from which a traction unit (31, 32) acts on a single banknote along a direction essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal development of the banknote. Downstream from the above mentioned traction unit (31, 32), there is provided a conveyance unit for the banknote along a direction essentially parallel to its longitudinal development, to transport the banknote itself through a counting and checking station (55), which pilots a shunter, capable of selectively inserting the banknotes, into a collection area for the counted banknotes and into a collection area for those that are discarded. <IMAGE> <IMAGE>

Description

Die vorliegende Erfindung besitzt als Gegenstand eine verbesserte Maschine, um Banknoten jeder Größe selbst im überlappenden Zustand zu zählen und zu überprüfen. Claims

1. An improved machine for counting and checking banknotes even in the overlapped state, comprising an input station (2) for a maximum of 200 banknotes at a time, below which a pulling unit (30) acts on individual banknotes along a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of the banknote itself, characterized in that below the pulling unit (30) a unit (40, 41, 45, 46, 50, 51) is provided for the conveyance of the banknotes, along a direction which is substantially parallel to their longitudinal extension, for conveyance from a counting and checking station (55), with a deflection part (80) which is suitable for selectively introducing the banknote into a collection area (85) for the counted banknotes and into a collection area (81) for the rejected banknotes.

2. A machine according to claim 1, wherein said input station (2) comprises an inclined plane (3) surrounded by side walls (4) and by a swinging front wall (5) to allow the introduction of the banknotes in the direction of the pulling unit.

A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein it comprises the above-mentioned inclined plane (3) and slots (7) into which eccentric rollers (8) for conveying and aligning the banknotes and rollers (9) for feeding them extend, and wherein the rollers are controlled by a first stepping motor (10) of the self-regulating type.

4. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, in which it comprises a device for pivoting the oscillating front wall (5) consisting of a second stepping motor (20) acting on a traction roller (21) associated with a semi-cylindrical roller (22) connected to the oscillating front wall.

A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the above-mentioned pulling unit (30) comprises, below the oscillating front wall (5), a lower pulling roller (31) above which is provided a friction roller (32) suitable for holding the banknotes at their upper side to enable the insertion of individual banknotes.

6. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein it comprises, below the lower pulling roller (31), an aligning roller (33) provided on an inclined reference plane (34) defining an abutting edge (35) for the alignment of the banknotes.

7. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the above-mentioned conveying unit comprises a conveying shaft (40) equipped with a small conveying roller (41) located above the banknote and the above-mentioned inclined reference plane and adapted to guide the banknote onto upper and lower belts (45, 46) for conveying the banknote.

8. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the aforesaid conveyor belts (45, 46) are adapted to guide the banknotes beneath the aforesaid counting and validating station (55).

9. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the banknote, on its exit from the counting and validating station (55), is guided between an upper belt (60) and a lower belt (61) which have a common, overlapping section defined by a rising section (70A), a horizontal section (70B) and a falling section (70C) and terminating where the aforesaid deflector (80) is located.

10. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the above-mentioned deflector (80) is adapted to guide the counted and verified banknotes onto a receiving belt which runs along a certain distance as the lower belt, for guiding the banknotes onto a gripping roller (91).

11. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the above-mentioned gripping roller (91) has a pair of spaced-apart flanges (92) provided with spirally arranged seats (93) defining the area for securing the individual banknotes, and is also provided with an unrolling pusher (94) for releasing the banknotes from the spiral seats (93) of the above-mentioned gripping roller (91).

A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the collection area (85) for the counted banknotes comprises a swinging rear wall (96) and a swinging front wall (95) which can be brought into a horizontal and a vertical position for the closed state and can be pivoted so that they communicate with a collection container (100).

13. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the collecting container (100) can be slidably inserted into C-shaped guides (101) carrying a conveyor hopper which can be aligned with respect to the space defined by the front and rear walls (95, 96) in the open position.

14. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein it comprises a locking roller (110) provided with eccentric projections (111) and supported by C-shaped guides (101), and wherein these eccentric projections (111) can be reversibly connected to locking projections (112) provided on the upper panel (102) of a removable box (100), while the panel (102) can be rolled up and unrolled by means of an automatic roller (103) carried by the box.

15. A machine according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein it comprises the edge of the shutter (102) which, in its closed state, can be connected to an electrically controlled valve (114) suitable for holding the shutter (102) in a stable closed position to allow its opening only by authorised persons with authorised means.
