Abstract

The invention relates to a security bag intended for carrying money or confidential documents and which if opened and re-sealed provides an indication that the bag has been tampered with. The bag (12) has an opening means (18) and sealing means (20) comprising a transparent flap adapted to fold over the opening to seal the bag by adhering the bag to an area (23) of the bag adjacent the opening. The sealing means is formed of a material whose surface has a lower co-efficient of friction or is otherwise less retentive of print than the area (23). The sealing means is printed or otherwise marked with a pattern (24) such that when the sealing means is adhered to the area (23) to seal the opening a mirror image of the pattern is transferred to the area while remaining on the sealing means. The sealing means is of a thin easily distorted material making it extremely difficult to match the original pattern once the bag has been opened and if an attempt is made to re-seal it. <IMAGE>

Description

Diese Erfindung betrifft Sicherheitsbeutel, Mittel zum Verschließen solcher Beutel und/oder Verschließbänder oder andere Klebstoff und Sicherheitsdrucke tragende Organe. Sie betrifft insbesondere Sicherheitsbeutel (einschließlich Briefumschläge o.dgl.), die zum Transport von Geld, gewöhnlich Banknoten, oder vertraulichen Dokumenten bestimmt sind und die bei Öffnung und Wiederverschluß anzeigen, daß der Beutel manipuliert worden ist.This invention relates to security bags, means for closing such bags and/or sealing tapes or other members carrying adhesives and security prints. Es ist z.B. aus GB-A-1523933 bekannt, einen Beutel mit einer Klebeklappe zu versehen, die zum Verschließen des Beutels über die Öffnung des Beutels umgeklappt wird. Der Beutel ist an der Öffnung mit einem Sicherheitsdruck bedruckt, so daß der Beutel, nachdem er verschlossen wurde, nicht wiedergeöffnet, der Inhalt entnommen und der Beutel wiederverschlossen werden kann, ohne daß dieser Umstand durch die Verzerrung oder Zerstörung eines Teils des Sicherheitsdrucks offenbart wird. Wenngleich dieser Beutel sicher ist gegen das gewaltsame Aufziehen der Verschlußklappe oder gegen das Lösen des Klebstoffs durch Warme oder Lösungsmittelwirkung, hat sich herausgestellt, daß, wenn die Leimlinie am Verschluß durch Besprühen vereist wird, beispielsweise durch Senken der Temperatur auf unter minus 30 ºC, der Klebstoff spröde wird, so daß sich der Beutel öffnet, ohne den Sicherheitsdruck zu beschädigen. Der Beutel kann dann auf Umgebungstemperatur zurückgebracht werden, bei der der Klebstoff die Klappe wieder anklebt, ohne eine Manipulation anzuzeigen. Unter Bezugnahme auf die Zeichnungen: Ein Beutel ist insgesamt mit 10 bezeichnet und dazu bestimmt, Geld oder vertrauliche Dokumente aufzunehmen. Der Beutel ist aus einer endlosen Bahn einer thermoplastischen Folie, z.B. Polyethylen, durch Umfalten der endlosen Bahn um eine Falzlinie 13 gebildet, die den Boden des Beutels bildet. Der Beutel hat eine Vorderseite 14 und eine Rückseite 15, wobei die Seiten von Vorder- und Rückseite durch Heißsiegeln auf bekannte Weise zu verschweißten Seitenrändern 16 miteinander verbunden sind. Die Oberfläche des Beutels ist auf bekannte Weise durch eine Koronaentladung behandelt worden, um die Oberfläche so wirkungsvoll aufzurauhen, daß sie bedruckbar ist und den Druck dauerhaft festhält. Entlang den Seitenrändern ist auf bekannte Weise ein Sicherheitsdruck 17 vorgesehen. Jedoch ist der Druck mit einer Schicht 25 eines Klebstoffs eines beliebigen Typs abgedeckt, der normalerweise zum Verschließen solcher Beutel benutzt wird, z.B. Heißschmelz-Kontaktklebstoff. Der Klebstoff ist auf bekannte Weise durch einen Sperrschichtstreifen 26 abgedeckt, der eine Oberfläche aufweist, die sich bequem vom Klebstoff ablösen läßt und daher unmittelbar vor dem Verschließen des Beutels abgezogen werden kann. Claims

1. 2. Bag according to claim 1, characterized in that the other of the closure member and the region has a surface which has been modified by treatment with a corona discharge so that it accepts and holds pressure.

3. Bag according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said one component is the closure member (22) and said other component is the region (23).

4. Bag according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the pattern (24) is repeated and extends at many angles.

5. Bag according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the print (24) is initially located under the adhesive, but penetrates through it.

6. Bag according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the bag (14, 15) and the closure member (22) are made of a thermoplastic film material, the closure member being thinner and more quickly deformable than the material of the bag.

7. Bag according to claim 6, characterized in that the material of the bag has a thickness in the range between 30 and 150 micrometers.

8. Bag according to claim 6 or 7, characterized in that the closure member has a thickness in the range between 20 and 60 micrometers.

9. A bag according to any one of claims 1 to 8, made from a continuous web of thermoplastic film folded and sealed at edges (16) remote from the opening, characterized in that the flap (22) is made of a different material and has an edge welded (21) to one side of the opening.

10. Bag according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that at least the area near the portion which is glued to the closure member bears an additional security print which can be destroyed by heat or solvent.
