Abstract

A back-support arrangement (5) which can freely be placed on a sitting or lying surface (4), e.g. on a piece of furniture (2), comprises for example a triangular-shaped part with an underpart (6) which is arranged to be in contact with the surface (4), and having upwardly-extending side surfaces (12,13) of which the forwardly-facing surface (12) slopes backwards, and where the support surface (6) wholly or partly comprises a material with relatively great friction against the surface (4). A cushion (8) is placed in front of the back-support arrangement (5), and the back of said cushion can be secured to the back-support arrangement, e.g. with a separable securing element such as a zip fastener or the like.

2. Backrest according to claim 1, characterized in that the underside (10) of the cushion comprises, in whole or in part, a material with relatively high friction, for example the same material as the underside of the lower part (6).

3. Backrest according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it consists of at least two elongate parts which form an angle with one another (Fig. 3).

Backrest according to one of claims 1 - 3, characterized in that it is made of polyurethane foam and has the same cross-sectional profile over its entire length, for example a triangular cross-sectional profile (Fig. 4), after which it is padded, and that a cushion is applied to the front-facing side, this cushion essentially covering the assembled front-facing side (12) and that the back of the cushion cover and the front of the backrest cover are held together by a preferably separable connecting means (11).

5. Piece of furniture with a substantially flat sitting or lying surface (4), characterized in that at least one backrest according to Fig. 1 is placed freely on the surface.

6. Piece of furniture according to claim 5, characterized in that the underside (10) of the cushion is made entirely or partially of a material with relatively high friction, for example the same material as the underside of the lower part (6).

Piece of furniture according to claim 5, characterized in that the backrest is formed from two joined foam parts, for example rigid polyurethane foam, whereby these parts form an angle with each other and have the same cross-sectional profile over their entire length, for example a triangular cross-sectional profile and are padded accordingly, and that a cushion is applied to the front-facing side, which essentially covers the assembled front-facing side (12) and that the back of the cushion cover and the front of the backrest cover are held together by means of a preferably separable connecting means (11).
