Description

_ . . . Process for the manufacture of objects from vitreous silica It has been found that the objects obtained according to the main patent can thereby can be provided with a mirror-smooth surface that the objects preferably immediately after the heating which causes the sintering of the silica grains for a short time to a considerably higher temperature than when the silica grains were sintered is required to be heated. This surface glazing is surprising carry out without a disadvantageous in the deeper layers of the objects Cristobalite formation occurs. The short-term, high heating is therefore probably sufficient to Bringing the surface to melt, however, does not express any deeper effects, what could not be foreseen. _. . . According to the new process, the after the main patent obtained products with a glassy, melted, extremely to provide a dense surface, for example by immediately following during the sintering process, the objects are only a few minutes above the sintering temperature, preferably above 1700 ° C. The short-term overheating affects the dimensional stability molded parts are not, as only the surface is exposed to the increased temperature stands.

For example, one proceeds with the production of ouatar crucibles 3 mm wall thickness so that the crucible is brought into the oven at 158o ° C and with an even temperature Temperature rise in 10 minutes to 1730 ° C moves. Then that is Crucible well sintered, the surface glazed and extremely tight, without any Change in shape of the crucible during sintering and subsequent vitrification the surface has taken place.
