Description
Process for reducing the sulfur binding capacity of zur Coking of certain fuels The sulfur contained in fuels is if it is not already bound to inorganic constituents, on coking as well as .beim burn through basic components of the fuel, z. B. bound to calcium and magnesium. In certain cases, for example in the Gas generation, specifically. in the case of gasification, is the bond created by this the sulfur to ash constituents beneficial. One achieves this by reducing it des: Addicts sulfur a significant improvement in the gas. In other cases however, where @ it comes down to high quality coke manufacture and elimination of gas sulfur is not particularly important: it matters or sulfur production from the gas is desirable, sulfur-binding constituents are advantageous eliminated or reduced before coking. There are known methods that this Pursuing a goal and serving to that which occurs in the coal, not without further ado water-soluble basic constituents, in particular lime and magnesia and their To reduce salts (carbonates or humates) or to render them harmless. Usually A desirable reduction in ash goes hand in hand with such methods. At least the ash melting point is set by dissolving out the flux or slag forming agent known substances influenced and increased in a favorable manner.
Mineral acids are usually found as a broom-dissolving agent Hydrochloric acid, application. Although these have a strong solvent power, they work often adversely affect the pure carbon substance. Above all, the following is necessary Wash out the extremely firmly adhering to the carbon substance hydrochloric acid tedious. -Because these acids from the fuel hardly or partly not at all are to be removed in this way, undesirable corrosion often occurs in the apparatus in which the further processing of the fuel is carried out. D @ ate himself the use of sulfuric acid or SO2 in a process aimed at reducing of sulfur, forbids by itself, is evident.
Also the 'effects of gases. and steaming, sometimes even for direct Removal of sulfidic and organic sulfur are known. As a solvent CO2 is partially manned here in the presence of water. This way of working lies the underlying idea is to reduce the lime and lime present in coal through excess CO2 To convert magnesia salts into water-soluble bicarbonates, which become more complete and swift implementation wash out with ease. Since CO2 in the following Drying is readily volatile, attention only needs to be paid to removal of the solutes to be directed, with no acid leaching Is to be taken into consideration.
However, this method is not readily usable because the Treatment with C 02 under normal atmospheric pressure, which has been customary up to now, is a decisive factor Solution effect due to insufficient conversion to bicarbonate fails or so slowly takes place that too long periods must be provided. One was therefore forced to catalytically active substances, e.g. B. oxides of metals, salts, phosphorus compounds etc., which do not accelerate the necessary reactions, but by their action they reduce the sulfur-binding capacity of the bases should. However, the addition of foreign matter leaves the amount of ash so high again increase, that a substantial decrease in the value of the fuel or from it obtained coke occurs.
It is also known to use carbon dioxide under pressure in the extraction of soda in to introduce a solution consisting of Na Cl, water and ammonia, to make sodium bicarbonate to be eliminated. However, this method does not concern the reduction of the sulfur content of fuels intended for coking.
According to the invention, in order to reduce the basic constituents of the fuel, in particular lime and magnesia, work is carried out in such a way that the fuel intended for coking is expediently comminuted as much as possible in a pressure vessel together with water from the treatment with CO " under high pressure, For example, over 50 atmospheres, it is necessary to ensure sufficient movement of the water-fuel mixture at the same time, so that the action with an extraordinarily high dissolving power and the separation of fuel is over in a short time and the added water with the constituents dissolved in it can be carried out.
At ordinary pressure it is known: a heating at the The reaction is inexpedient because the bicarbonate dissociates into C02 and normal Carbonate enters. In contrast, the process used according to the invention can be advantageous use the heating to accelerate the solution effect and thus to strengthen.
As in the original binding of calcium and magnesium to organic Components, for example in the case of lignite, the humic acids after the treatment are set in freedom, results from the colloidal nature of this Substances make the hydrocarbon suspensions more difficult to filter. According to the invention Therefore, the separation of the coal from the liquid is achieved by means of the two treatment applied high C 02 -Di-uckes made, the procedure being that both the filtration itself as well as the washing with the injection of washing water in . a downstream pressure filter is to be made using the carbonic acid pressure applied. This has the advantage that the washing water is also heavily saturated with C 02 under pressure is, as a result of which some constituents that have not been detected will still dissolve. This measure, when using mine yalsic acids due to the strong adhesion to the coal forbids, enables an economic exploitation of the applied pressure and the carbonic acid. The treated fuel is then dried and optionally prepared in the usual way by briquetting soot or other measures for coking.
The measures particularly emphasized in the subclaims are only in connection with the; Main claim to evaluate.
It must be particularly pointed out that in the invention applied method was not foreseen that such a considerable reduction of the Schyvefelbindigkeit with increase the melting point the ashes would occur, despite the application of costly pressure an economical one is to bring about a very favorable result.
It is also important to note the particular advantages of the present invention to draw attention to the following: The use of mineral acids as a base dissolving agent Means with unfavorable influence on pure coal and long washing out the hydrochloric acid adhering firmly to the coal is avoided. The one in further processing the corrosion occurring in the devices of the pure carbon treated with hydrochloric acid also fall away.
The one when using carbonic acid under ordinary atmospheric pressure required addition of catalytically active substances that reduce the ash content so far increase that a substantial reduction in fuel value occurs is not more necessary.
