Description

Process for dewaxing mineral oils It has been proposed to use so-called ethylene chloride or dichloroethane (C2 H4 Cl,) for dewaxing mineral oils and the like. It has also been proposed to use this in a mixture with other chlorinated hydrocarbons, such as, in particular, a mixture of ethylene chloride and trichlorethylene.

It has now been shown that the dewaxing of mineral oils is particularly beneficial when a mixture of ethylene chloride and methylene chloride is used, and that particularly favorable results are achieved when the methylene chloride content in the mixture is relatively very small , in particular below 2504, and preferably at about 1010. When using such a solvent mixture consisting of about 20 parts of ethylene chloride and about 10 parts of methylene chloride, one not only obtains the paraffin crystals in a form that can be easily extracted, even if the oil solvent table cools down quickly, but one also obtains an oil that is deeply stocking after removal of the paraffin crystals and is achieved at the same time that the slack wax retains little 01 or suck easily largely oil-free or can be pressed.

The by the use of the solvent mixture according to the present Invention achieved effect is shown by the tabular below overlooks the experimental results made clear when applying percentage differently composed mixtures of ethylene chloride and methylene chloride have been achieved. Through the diagram. according to the enclosed drawing « these test results still further clarified.
