Bei den im Viertakt arbeitenden Gasmaschinen, namentlich bei gröfseren, ist für die Eröffnung des Auslafsventils wegen der dabei noch herrschenden beträchtlichen Endspannung im Cylinder ein ziemlicher Arbeitsaufwand erforderlich. Die vorliegende Neuerung bezweckt, denselben und die damit zusammenhängenden Uebelstände zu vermeiden. Es sind dazu zwei Auslafsventile von verhältnifsmäfsig kleinen Dimensionen angeordnet, F1 und V2. Das erste steht wie gewöhnlich mit dem Compressionsraum in Verbindung, das letztere ist mit seinem in den Cylinder führenden Kanal so angeordnet, dafs der Kanal während des gröfsten Theiles des Hubes vom Kolben verdeckt bleibt und erst gegen Ende Hub frei wird. Die Eröffnung von V2 erfolgt während des Explosionshubes, ehe der Kanal freiliegt, also ehe ein Druck darauf wirkt. Die Eröffnung von V1 erfolgt, wenn der Kolben den Auslafshub beginnt, der Druck im Cylinder also bereits nachgelassen hat.In the four-stroke gas engines, especially the larger ones, a considerable amount of work is required to open the outlet valve because of the considerable final tension that still prevails in the cylinder. The opening of V 2 takes place during the explosion stroke, before the channel is exposed, i.e. before pressure acts on it. The opening of V 1 takes place when the piston begins the exhaust stroke, i.e. the pressure in the cylinder has already decreased.
