Description

Fernsehapparaten.Fluorescent screen in Brauaschen tubes for televisions or the like. Fluorescent screens have recently attracted increased interest in converting in and of itself invisible electric rays in visible light to a greater extent Application, in particular for the visualization of electrically transmitted Still or moving pictures in so-called TV sets.

In the past, luminescent materials such as calcium, cadmium and magnesium tungstate; Zinc or zinc cadmium sulfides and the like. and zinc cadmium sulfides previously commonly used with copper. This is how the known luminous paints of the zinc sulfide type. These are for the stated purpose as Luminous material in Brauaschen tubes for televisions cannot be used because they are a show very strong and relatively long lasting afterglow. In this relationship are the recently known zinc cadmium sulfides activated with silver better suited because they only linger for a short time. But you still have two principal disadvantages: a. The fluorescence produced by silver activation is significantly shorter wave than that caused by copper. But then you have to go to this Undo the shift, greatly increase the cadmium addition, which is very disadvantageous is because cadmium. the graying of the luminous substances under the action of the cathode ray favored and the durability of the luminous mass depresses quite considerably.

Am geeignetsten ist aber ein ausgesprochen weißgelblicher; dem Sonnenlicht ähnlicher Farbton ohne störendes Nachleuchten.z, silver alone always creates a brightly colored glow; the same thing is also the case with activation with copper alone. Most appropriate but is a decidedly whitish-yellow; hue similar to sunlight without disturbing afterglow.

According to the present invention, this can now be replaced by chemically largely purified ones; in particular achieve zinc-cadmium sulfide mixtures freed from copper, which have been activated with silver and copper at the same time. Surprisingly, in this case one obtains a glow similar to sunlight with an afterglow period which is just suitable for suppressing the flickering of the television picture that otherwise easily occurs. It is now possible to produce luminous screen compounds for television sets which fully meet all practical requirements, above all for the correct color shade, strong excitability and durability. Example 73-00 g of the purest zinc sulfide. and 2700 g of the purest cadmium sulfide, both copper-free, are mixed and finely powdered. To this mixture 50o g of the purest N-atrium chloride are added, the time 100 ccm 0.16 / o alcoholic silver nitrate solution (based on silver metal) and 40 cc of an o.10 / o / o alcoholic copper chloride solution (based on copper metal) added, well done - ,; mixed and steamed to dryness. NÄ .: - 'After careful mixing, the mass is brought to crystallization in the usual way by adding a little pure sulfur.

The proportion of the individual substances is determined by the purpose or by the desired effect (color tone and persistence). The thus obtained Luminous material is then used in a manner known per se for producing the luminescent screen applied in Braun tubes and the like.
