Temperatur getrocknet.Method of Making a Particulate Filter The invention relates to
the manufacture of a particulate filter from cellulose fibers. While processing
of cellulose in the Hollander, the fibers are not only subject to mechanical influences,
but they also suffer a more or less strong chemical change at the same time.
The formation of pulp slime is observed, especially after prolonged grinding
Result of hydration of the gelulose. This chemical change in the fiber material
can be undesirable, especially when making filter papers
Gluing of the fibers result from quick drying at high temperature
is favored. In the paper mills, therefore, those for filtering beer,
Wine, sugar solutions, etc. serving filter plates as slowly as possible and at a lower level
Temperature dried.
Man
Cellulose fibers are also used in the manufacture of particulate filters. So are z. B. HEPA filters are known which are produced by casting an aqueous slurry of C - ellulose fibers. The drying process following the casting also plays an important role in this production. If these filters are to have a good filter performance, they must not be dried quickly and not at high temperatures. A drying process is not necessary in the production of filters for suspended matter, which are provided by air suspension In the usual way, after the fibers have been previously suspended in water, the water is shaped and, after the shaping, the water is displaced from the fibers by a specific lighter substance, e.g. alcohol. The alcohol which displaces the water causes the fibers to swell and completely degrease. After the alcohol has evaporated, an extraordinary amount of loose, cotton-wool-like filter material with completely unglued, fat-free fibers remains.

Process achieved in that, instead of slurrying the fibers in water and
to displace the water with alcohol, organic solvents (e.g. ethyl alcohol,
Methyl alcohol, aetton, etc.) all-in or mixed with water to make a slurry
of the fibers are used. Subsequent washing out of those shaped in this way
Filter is not necessary. Dry the filters.
