Die patronenartigen Einsätze a, im Abgufs (Fig. ι und 5), im Rohr (Fig. 1 und 7) oder in besonderen Kapseln b (Fig. 1 und 2) angebracht, sind aus einer durch Mischung mit verbrennbaren Stoffen und nachheriges Brennen porös gemachten Thonmasse hergestellt und haben den Zweck, den Rauch auf seinem Wege durch dieselben oder an denselben vorbei zu reinigen und abzukühlen, sowie alle Feuchtigkeit aufzusaugen.
