Vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Maschine zum Bündeln von Cigarren, bei welcher gleichzeitig das Pressen der Cigarren durch einen zweitheiligen Prefsdeckel in Verbindung mit einer centralen Trittstange bewirkt wird. Der Prefsdeckel hat eine solche Anordnung erhalten, dafs das Freigeben der behufs Pressens abwärts gedrückten Trittstange ein selbstthätiges Oeffhen des Deckels für das Entfernen des fertigen Bündels und die Wiederholung des Spieles herbeiführt. Dabei wird das Drehen der von dem Bande umgebenen Cigarren mittelst Kurbel und, Zahnräder hervorgebracht. Nachdem die Maschine in die durch Fig. 2 gekennzeichnete Stellung gebracht und ein der Gröfse des herzustellenden Bündels entsprechendes Futter k eingesetzt ist, wird durch den Schlitz η das von einer Rolle ο (Fig. 1) kommende Band in den Cigarrenbehälter gelegt. Um dasselbe, der Gröfse der Bündel entsprechend, abzuschneiden und in die richtige Lage zu bringen, ist eine Bandmefs- und Abschneidvorrichtung vorgesehen. Diese besteht aus zwei Winkeln pp¹, Fig. 6, welche in einer mit dem Gestell verbundenen Hülse p² aus einander und in einander geschoben werden können, so dafs demnach der Raum zwischen den beiden sich nach vorn erstreckenden Schenkeln gleich der benöthigten Länge des zu verwendenden Bandes gemacht werden kann. Der Schenkel p¹ trägt ein Messer ρ ³, während der Schenkel ρ eine Anschlagfläche p⁴ erhalten hat. Man vermag daher das von der Rolle über das Messer und hierauf durch den Cigarrenbehälter nach der Anschlagfläche geführte Band unmittelbar auf die entsprechende Länge zu schneiden. Auf das eingelegte Band werden dann die zu verarbeitenden Cigarren verpackt, und zwar so, dafs sie mit der Spitze gegen die Begrenzungswand Z stofsen. Hierauf werden die Stangen e mit der Prefsdeckelhälfte g in die senkrechte Lage, Fig. 3, gebracht und durch Niederdrücken mittelst des Tritthebels c¹ abwärts gezogen, wodurch auch die Stangen/ mit dem Prefsdeckeltheil h in die Hochlage gehen, da seine Stangen/ sich bis zu einer gewissen Grenze um die Zapfen m drehen. In dieser Lage wird der Prefsdeckel durch federnde Knaggen gehalten. Sobald der Prefsdeckel g h geschlossen ist, werden durch Ziehen an dem Handgriff m² die Zapfen m durch die Kniehebel m^l in den Cigarrenbehälter gebracht, so dafs also nun der Prefsdeckel durch den Tritthebel völlig abwärts bewegt werden kann; hierbei werden die Stangen ef durch an ihnen angebrachte Zäpfchen r, Fig. 4, in Rinnen r^l des Cigarrenbehälters geführt. Je nach der Gröfse des Cigarrenbundes wird die Gröfse des Hubes bei dieser Abwärtsbewegung mittelst der auf der Stange b verstellbaren Mutter Z?⁴ verändert. Sobald nun in vorbeschriebener Weise die Cigarren geprefst sind, wird die Zugstange c durch die Sperrklinke c⁸ selbstthätig festgelegt, so dafs nun der Tritthebel losgelassen werden kann. Hierauf nimmt der Arbeiter die beiden Bandenden oberhalb der Maschine zwischen die Finger der linken Hand und dreht mittelst der Kurbel s den Cigarrenbehälter mehrere Maie herum, um den Knoten fertig zu stellen. Die Cigarren sind nun geprefst und gebündelt. Um das Bündel herauszunehmen, drückt der Arbeiter auf den Hebel c⁶, Fig. 5 und 7, worauf die Stangen b und c und mit ihnen der Prefsdeckel g h durch die Feder Z?³ aufwärts geschnellt werden. Da die Stangen e und / mit ihrer Drehachse d durch Lappen e'/¹ verbunden sind, so fallen die Prefsdeckeltheile selbstthätig nach vorn bezw. nach hinten, wobei die vordere Stange e auf einem an dem Cigarrenbehälter vorgesehenen Winkel t und die Stange/ auf den Zapfen m, welcher infolge des Aufwärtsganges der Stange / durch die Feder m³ wieder auswärts gedrückt worden ist, zu liegen kommen.
