Die Anfertigung der Acten-, Noten-, Zeichnen-, Schreib- etc. Hefte, d. h. das Einnähen einzelner oder mehrerer Schriftstücke, Noten, Zeichnungen oder Schreibpapier in einen Umschlagdeckel, erfolgt bis jetzt meist in der "Weise, dafs man mittelst einer Nadel und Zwirnes die zu heftenden Schriftstücke in einen aus stärkerem Papier oder aus Pappe bestehenden Deckelbogen mit der Hand heftet. Diese Art des Heftens erfordert nicht nur eine gröfsere Uebung und mehr Zeit, sondern kann auch nicht in solch sauberer und gleichmäfsiger Weise ausgeführt werden, als dies mit Leichtigkeit mittelst der in der Folge beschriebenen Heftmaschine auch durch jeden Ungeübten geschehen kann. . ■The preparation of the files, notes, drawing, writing, etc. booklets, d. Die Klemmschrauben bewegen sich beim seitlichen Verschieben der Schlitten c in der in der Druckleiste b angebrachten Aussparung e, welche auch deren äufserste seitliche Verschiebung begrenzt. In den Schlitten c ist je eine Nadel/ eingesetzt, deren Spitze nach oben zeigt. Unter der Spitze befindet sich ein Fadenloch mit seitlicher Oeffnung g zum Einlegen des Heftfadens. Zum Festhalten der zu heftenden Schriftstücke dient das Lineal h, welches mit seinen beiden Ausschnitten i um die auf dem Gestell befindlichen Klemmschrauben k gelegt und durch letztere festgeklemmt werden kann. Man schiebt nun die beiden Schlitten c mit den Nadeln so nahe nach der Mitte hin zusammen, als man die mittleren Nadelstiche von einander entfernt wünscht, legt dann den Handhebel a^l zurück, wodurch die beiden Heftnadeln durch das Papier gedrückt werden, so dafs sich das Fadenloch der Heftnadeln über der Papierfläche befindet.
