Abstract

A fabric consists of a warp or weft containing groups of carbon filaments and groups of non-conducting filaments, the carbon filaments being in regularly-spaced strips (2) at set intervals (d). The weft or warp contains groups of metal and non-conducting filaments, the metal filaments being in strips (3) linking the carbon filaments in parallel and spaced regular at intervals (D) that are at least five times greater than the intervals between the carbon filaments. Both warp and weft filaments are coated on both sides with a layer of insulating material. The metal filaments are selected from nickel, aluminum, stainless steel and gold-plated filaments.
