Abstract
The balance wheel (1) is produced by chemical etching of a sheet of material with a low thermal coefficient of expansion and a low density, such as, for example, diamond on which a number of balance weights (2, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24) are arranged. The form and position of the balance weights is determined such that the variation in the radius of gyration of the balance wheel caused by a variation in temperature is zero or negative, thus providing a balance wheel with a zero or negative thermal characteristic.
