Die Schlitze A1, A2, A3 werden zweckmäßig, wie in Abb. i dargestellt, am unteren Ende gut abgerundet. Die Tiefe der Schlitze richtet sich nach der Dicke der Panzerplatte, nach der Zusammensetzung der verwendeten Stahllegierung und nach der Dicke der gehärteten Schicht; sie kann beispielsweise etwa ein Drittel der Plattendicke betragen. Beim Härten der Panzerplatten werden die Rillen z. B. mit Lehm verschmiert, so daß in den Schlitzen keine, Härtung eintritt und die in der gehärteten Schicht erzeugten Spannungen durch die Schlitze ausgeglichen ,werden.
